I agree about his new business being populism and outright theft/money laundering etc via political power of the presidency. He’s enriching himself and his family in numerous ways even if his trump brand is being tarnished

When I was a freshman at university I got a job at some vegetarian takeout in the commons of the library. It was run by a 5 foot smug little weirdo with a slimy ponytail almost as long as him.  

Yeah, so I addressed this fellow employee, a college girl, as woman. Like, what's up woman!

I got a call in my dorm room from slimy ponytail guy to either apologize to her for saying woman or quit.

Let's assume for the sake of argument the guy is innocent of what he's claiming to have done, and he's just a frat boy in self denial. I just don't see how a fbi investigation could help him at all. The only thing the investigation could do is gather more and more anecdotal evidence from classmates that he drank a lot and was a party animal, it can't absolve him of having done the act or not. I don't even know what that would look like when there's no direct evidence of the act. So I can understand why he doesn't want one. 

He REALLY shot himself in the foot not admitting to the whole boofing and partying too hard thing. The conversation shifted from the sexual assault accusation to proving he's not worthy of the supreme court due to his inability to admit what is obviously happening. A smart move on democrats part.

Imagine he did tell the truth about the partying thing, he'd still be known as the next Cosby, regardless of whether he did it or not. Which I am willing to bet he did due to Ford's testimony and just the feeling of the case, but even I have to admit that the evidence is only anecdotal so far and as I said based off of gut feeling due to circumstances. An Impassioned he said/ she said. Unless I missed something.

I wonder why they haven't focused on the other accusers. That's when it became obvious Cosby was a monster.

Yeah there is this general feeling that Democrats are just doing this to stall unfortunately. It feels like politics is getting in the way of any actual justice. Republicans just want it to go away and I can't help but feel that democrat politicians are just.. using her/this situation and they just so happen to be on the right side of the fence (Anthony Weiner comes to mind). You know? I'm not saying that's true, it's just the feeling. It feels like a chess move, not about actual justice and due diligence.

Assuming he passes through he's going to be quite the bastard of SCOTUS - there's no way he'll be able shake this off reputation wise. I don't mean that in the sense of this faux claim of "character assassination" succeeding but in regards to his tone and lack of professionalism and tact. He is perpetually going to be asked to recuse himself because of his refusal to given sworn testimony. A slim GOP majority and slick maneuvering will not quell the fact that the National Committee of Churches, the American Bar Association oppose his nomination, or that he is historically one of the least popular appointees in history.

1991 was very different. The Bush administration appointed a well respected black conservative accused of harassment, not a judge accused of sexual assault who was hand-picked to be most soft on a hypothetical impeachment. Anita Hill did not get justice in terms of blocking Thomas appointment or being given respect at the time but it started the ball rolling in terms of actually acknowledging and addressing sexual harassment. These allegations in 2018 involve sexual assault, perjury, and a hyper-partisan effort to forcefully shift the Supreme Court to a conservative majority for the first time in 75 years.

Maybe it's different in the UK but I did jury service last year and the judges seemed safe as fuck. Fair and even handed despite one of the defendants being a mouthy cunt (we found him innocent in the end but he really didn't do himself any favours)

Yeah I also did jury duty last year. I wasn’t looking forward to it, but I left really impressed and strangely patriotic.

The current season of Serial is documenting a courthouse and going pretty in depth in regards to specific judge(s?), the courts in that city in particular, and the implications for the rest of America with it. If you want to hear examples of a judge being an asshole, I think it was episode two or three.
