I’m not a conservative and I don’t watch Fox. Liberals want to pigeonhole people so badly. I got these “talking points” from the past year of NPR.I’m not even saying Canada has terrible healthcare, but it has its own set of problems. Everything I said is true, not to mention how quickly doctors are leaving Canada. It’s not a stereotype.I don’t think trump can fix healthcare or anything else, but if doctors deserve to be paid well, how do you remove profit? I don’t think it’s a stretch to say money is a big motivator for many go into medicine. Also, my comment about dead eyed doctors isn’t a blanket statement about all doctors, it’s about people around the age of 30 who have been practicing for a couple years. If you don’t see that trend then you must not know many in the group I’m talking about. edit: and yeah, doctors get squeezed in so many ways, not to mention the electronic records train wreck. again, not saying all doctors are bad, our pediatrician is great. a spinal surgeon saved my brothers life. but my brother had 4 spinal surgeries. rods fused to his spine. the first one was to put the rods in, the second to take them out because he was done growing and this is usually what is done, but the first surgery turned out to be a failure, and his back twisted out of shape again in a few months. the third surgery was done by a guy who, it turned out, had never done the surgery before. he was in one of the new specialist corridors that have cropped up on the north side of town. when my mom finally tracked down a nationally renowned surgeon, luckily only 5 hours away, he looked at the xrays and tried to hide how horrified he was at what the previous guy did. but dr 4 removed all of dr 3's horrific work and put in new rods in a total of about 8 hours. when you look at the old and new xrays side by side, it's insane that dr 3 was able to get away with something like that. not to mention getting paid. Dude, I live in Canada. I go to walk-in clinics all the time. Yes there are doctor shortages, of course they are worse in Moncton NB, because it’s not a place reasonable people want to live, even though it’s the largest city in the province, its population is around 80k. You keep saying you’re not right-wing, fine - all I’m saying is the points you raise in your apparent non-argument (“A”is not good, “B” isn’t good either!) are ones the right wing uses all the time, and has been doing for a long time. The answer is probably in a mixed system like the ones in Germany. But profiting off people’s health problems is obscene. goDel
I thought the entire western civilization was in agreement about the US healthcare system being the biggest tearjerker of them all. Oh hi there! As a Monconian, I feel the need to defend my hometown. If you're into making money, NB isn't the place to be. But if you're fine with living modestly and still have access to big city things, Moncton is good. Rent and house costs are dirt cheap. There's a good art/music scene. There are some amazing parks and natural hideaways less than an hour outside the city. The case of a person dying while waiting at the hospital is extremely rare. But wait times of three, four, five hours is pretty standard. You bring a book or two, or a tablet with your charger when going through triage. I usually drive 40 minutes to Sackville when I want to get checked out for something since the wait times are usually less than an hour there. And my understanding with the increased polarization is that the GOP itself is shrinking. I mean, look at the captain of their ship. And freshmen congresswomen like AOC and Ilhan Omar have already been receiving death threats from the right, simply because of who they are. And the GOP heavy hitters like Mitch McConnell won't even bring any bills to the Senate floor for a vote that are intended to keep Trump's power in check. And John Bolton (aka the Evil Lorax) keeps beating the war drums over Iran, and for what? The Republican party as we know it now is rotten to the core. So they can either stage a mutiny, or let their ship sink under their lunatic captain.
