yeh i'm not too too familiar with the proudboys but i feel like they must be clustered towards the "amnat/anti-woke/petersonian" end of the right wing field moreso than the "wignat/fascism/richard spencer" end. could be rong on that tho

a lot of them are actual nazis. "western chauvinists".  they don't often come out and say it but they want a white euro ethno state.

Seeing people so in denial they think Trump is getting inaugurated in January, reminds me of those conservatives dying from Covid who were so convinced it is a hoax, would refuse covid treatment, and refuse letting family know they were dying of Covid. Then they die. Then the family goes to the funeral thinking the family member who died, died from an unknown illness, and not covid since you know covid is just like the flu.

short answer: marketability. vanilla candidate has broad appeal. safe. experienced. tracks well in various voting groups.

hard to sell someone new to the public and get them to oust trump.. or at least that was one line of thinking. but biden won everywhere in the primaries. the south cemented his road to victory in the primaries.

that started long before this election cycle as well. 

could bernie have won? idk. when breaking down all the demographics etc etc it didn't seem like it but with support from the DNC etc perhaps. the socialism tag has stuck hard at this point. lack of nuance in the conversation as usual. 

this primary really came down to the south and they loved biden. young people didn't come out in big numbers and the olds did. 

the next 20 years will be different. changing demographics. surprisingly a lot latino/latinX/hispanic people voted for trump in places like texas.
