Now That Trump's President... (not any more!)

I thought we touched on this a couple of pages ago, but election of Bernie would be largely symbolic, a vote of no confidence in the gridlocked, hyper-partisan, bought and paid for congress. No meaningful reforms are going to be passed by those clowns anyway, so the biggest opportunity a Sanders presidency would have would be to get a few rational SC justices on dat bench to roll back the crazy should any of the current crop keel over - though I vaguely recall it was you Az who accurately pointed out that Scalia is being kept alive by Satan.

 

Good to see Hillary getting lambasted for parading out her generation's feminists to try guilting younger women into voting for her, obviously not one of her more effective campaign strategies like say, courting the aol vote.

 

Also I see nothing wrong with that Ted Cruz mailing, only welfare queens like yourselves would open up an envelope from Ted Cruz labeled check enclosed and expect it to be for you!

They aren't going to vote for a republican and Clinton is a familiar brand. The Clintons have also put in lots of work courting black voters of the last 20+ years, even if the results haven't really worked out for those voters.

do you know what the stats are? because i know the congressional black caucus pac is behind clinton (and so is obama and michael eric dyson) whilst black lives matter activists are (mostly) behind bernie (plus killer mike, cornel west and lil b).

 

so it might actually be something like 54% to 46% or 51% to 49% depending what draws a bigger male crowd (congressional black caucus vs black lives matter) but right now the divide, at least to me, seems more generational than anything else. older people are sticking with hillary because her positions are more familiar while bernie gets the younger and almost all women's vote due to his much radically progressive positions.

 

oddly enough, dyson is VERY progressive yet supports the more conservative democrat while cornel west is not as liberal as dyson yet supports the more progressive candidate so i don't know.

There's a bit of an irony here. Black & white democrats seem to vote similarly, so the racial component has become irrelevant amongst democrats... One might argue. But we're still talking like it matters. And it does...

I thought Cornel was quite liberal (which is ironic because I he's a lot less polarizing than Dyson personally), he described himself famously as a "non-Marxist socialist"

Sometime that's always irked me, in fact irrationally more than batshit right-wingers, are truly dumb liberals and Democrats. Some are blissfully ignorant, some have no basic concept of conservative or liberal historical theories, some literally have no idea why the vote that way yet are very loudly demeaning and insulting to anyone who votes Republican. I loathe these people.

 

Also, I can attest to this being the case from working 5 years at the TX State capitol, the theres a sad fact that Democratic parties most corrupt and/or inept office holders very often represent minority communities. It's probably the most shameful bad trend of the party. It's also why cities like Chicago, Detroit, and other rust belt metropolitan areas are so corrupt. In Texas it's even more difficult to acknowledge and combat because we need every Dem vote we can get (it's GOP supermajority statewide) and as much as I want to get bad legislators out, there's the even worse possibility of that district being re-drawn and turned into another tea party office.

i don't joshuatx. i only listened to a couple of interviews where both men were talking and came to that conclusion. said interviews were them saying they had a beef with each other and i guess dyson wrote a scathing report on west.

Fwiw: i was not trying to say dems are better than reps or anything. I was just going from the numbers posted by nebraska, arguing there's a roughly 50/50 division running through the entire party, regardles of ... Ehm can i say race ?. Without triggering the pcs?

Its funny that some observation about dem voters can be immediately taken as an attack on reps, though. It's apparently a very sensitive subject. And really amusing from an outsiders pov, i can tell ya. Must be one of the pros of living in a multi party system: the bullshit about having a certain political color is way less pronounced. But seeing the ease with which people tend to get insulted, i'll just stop here. Don't want to go into the "euro insulting us" mode either.

I don't think all white liberals are this cynical, but I do believe that the Democratic party is by and large. I just don't the impression that most Dems are overly concerned with their black constituents once the votes have been counted and the church visits are over.
