Recorded in Linmiri [Lannerlog bedroom studio], probably the last track I ever recorded in that house, quite fitting really, end of that era. I made it when coming back to visit my parents in Cornwall after moving away to go to college to do a degree in microelectronic engineering, which I thankfully never finished, was so boring, always preferred teaching myself, so much more satisfying, letting your mind wander where it needs to go. I heard Derrick May pressed this up onto vinyl so he could DJ it, I wonder if that was true?

track 19 [side 5, track 2, omitted from CDs] ("Stone in Focus"):

This track has now thankfully been found and uploaded here, I was very worried it had been lost, very relieved*** It was not included on the original CD’s as there wasn't enough room. I usually always give priority to the vinyl versions of all my releases as I never ever really liked CD's much, think I would have liked CD's a little bit more if you could put 90 mins on them, who decided they were to be 74 mins anyway? Thinking about this now I'd love to try and get Warp to do high quality chrome cassette versions of all my Warp musics, maybe even metal ones if possible. If I wait a year or so for this I could include all the extras on the cassettes as there would be plenty of room, would have to sign the tracks over to Warp first for a physical release, something I don't have to do for this website but that shouldn't be too difficult.

Someone I used to know, you know who you are, worked as a cleaner in a police station and kindly pinched me a police interview tape. It was with a woman who murdered her husband, it's the background audio in this track.

featuring an EMS synthi 'a', mk1, Studiomaster star mixer, recorded 184 Southgate road, 1st floor, London. Bought the synthi when I was about 19 from Robin wood at ems, Ladock, Cornwall. Saved all my money for it for a long time, one of the first synths I ever bought and I know that machine inside and out, magical piece of equipment, always felt like it was made specially for me.

Wowowowow, those comments are beyond amazing. Superdupermegaporn. I love stuff like this. SAWII is an album I've listened to soooo much in my life and getting behind the scenes tidbits like this is fantastic. :D

Just streaming the Ventolin remix EP, don't think I've ever played this one before..

Yeah, I ignored both Ventolin EPs for the longest time, not particularly liking the title track. But the others are much better! And now I'm at the point where I like even the Ventolin track too. I'm in too deep...

In the US, we got all the Ventolin versions on one CD, to me it always sounded like an excuse for him to release extra tracks that didn't fit the album, but only a few actually contained samples from the original. He took those few drum and hit hat sounds and went to town, plus all the bizarre samples, his mum, the baby, etc. it was a favorite of ours to smoke out to back in 95.

Guess # 22 might also explain "33 Saw II Un Stabbing Interview" from the dump.

Nice :ok:

Oh yeah, a couple of tracks aside it's basically just new material really (like a lot of his self-remixes I suppose - Girl/Boy, CTD etc). The US CD is great, pretty much a new album in the way the compiled Come to Daddy, Hangable Autobulb, AB3 etc. CDs are. I wish there was a compiled version of On like this too.

Hm, I really like "Ventolin (Crowsmengegus mix)" once you have edited out the start and the end, there's a lovely track in there! Hm, I like the Ventolin original and wheeze version too, except for the actual wheeze/whine.... maybe I should try to EQ that out?

Both Ventolin Eps whoomped the spot very nicely  :braindance:

#23 is one of my favorite SAW II tracks if not my favorite. Awesome to hear him talk about it.

Ventolin(Probus Mix) is an all time favorite of mine.

 me too! :)

Hope he adds more to the Orphans, four tracks is not enough. The 2 Spiral Staircases are sublime and Nightmail is a sweet follower but theres more coming there I think. Love the extra tracks on CCAI, I can listen to that album now and just enjoy it rather than think about how he got the robot to all the bits. The extended Orphan Deejay is my favorite addition because it's got my favourite song on it, pretend analogue. SAW 2 now in it's complete version too I see. What a fucking legend.

I'll digest this for time being, that Fuji tape will appear one day, no rush, but I want the Houston track without vinyl crackle. PM me.

Awww man, so awesome he was able to get the missing track on sawII. I was never able to hear that one. The comments are just icing on the cake. Can't wait for more! :aphexsign:

Yeah man, it's been a bit sketchy. Lots of people have reported things disappearing but for some reason they're always still showing on my end. Not sure if it's a browser thing, or region thing (not many Canadian members?) etc.

Same here , I was thinking about Ventolin/ICBYD yesterday - at the time I was all over SAW, SOSW, the AB and XT EPs and maybe On was out by then too, but Ventolin just turned me off for some reason, and I didn't really care for ICBYD either. Then RDJ and CTD came along and were great. Definitely a little blip at the time. Enjoyed getting back into them a few years ago.

Remember buying both parts of ventolin on vinyl when it came out. Either 99p or 1.99 each on offer at HMV. Probus one of his all time best. The coppice at 45rpm also mega. Whole ep is brilliant

I really liked how in the UK the EPs came in two parts... so fun building my collection back then. Loved those mini jewel cases too!

I've always liked Ventolin and was mildly obsessed with the video (that Richard hates) for the song.
