Shouldn't be too much changing that wouldn't have already from what they say in the article and interview. Having the option of deeper integration of Max in Live (or vice versa, perhaps?) was likely anyway, so this may make those connections even clearer maybe.

Either way I'm sure this sort of thing is coming ahead of some new Ableton goodies. So maybe Live 10 imminent? I think whenever they do release 10 it's gonna be a big deal, a big change.
