2018 Album of the Year nominations

I'm voting on the meticulous recreation of the Ae 2008 liveset by some as yet unknown idm ulillillia out there

But NTS is the point where I got left behind in the dust. I need a couple of more years to get into Elseq properly, then they dropped NTS and I'll admit to me it seemed like scaling the sonic version of K2. I just couldn't do it. I think I lasted 20 minutes before pulling the plug. And I haven't been back or likely to revisit in the near future. What I've heard of the Elseq series blows me away and I can't get into NTS before I wrap my head around that first.

 

Glad I got that off my chest on this thread than in the IDM version of a witches coven that is the Autechre subforum ; )

I gotta be honest. If you drop like 10 hours of music with like 20-30 minute tracks, it’s hard to be there for it. It’s like a responsibility. I can listen to a track here, a track there, etc but I just like Exai better.

 

I treated each session like an album listening wise. Never even got around to hearing all of them at work while drafting.

There is no way I have time to sit back in a nice chair with a beer, some snacks, some lotion and tissues and be immersed for a full 8 hours.

Still amuses me that "all end" itself was the longer than most drone / ambient LPs, not mention better than many albums put out by seasoned ambient producers.

I go for long walks daily. Primarily for listening to music and thing/people watching. NTS is perfect for this and I've rinsed those fuckers to death.

I find it hard to listen to NTS 3 as I tend to put Clustro Casual on, then just keep listening to Clustro Casual again. Top 10 ae track for real.

Yeah on balance it might be mine. They fit different moods for me, but in terms of individual track quality I probably dip into 3 the most.

True, one of my favorites also, though tt1pd is my motivation to let go of the urge to put Clustro on loop.
