Pretty much everything can be blamed on covid still at present; so once that's died down we can see where we are then.

I guess the *good* is that pretty much every country has been fucked by covid... and yeah there are murmerings of trade deals.  I guess loads is going on behind closed doors.

But otherwise there are fuel shortages due to panic buying and lack of hgv drivers, NHS waiting times are through the roof; there are protesters blocking major roads, taxes are going up,... its business as normal over here

this depends on either ignoring evidence or not being made aware of it, with covid being the cover story for situations not being experienced prior to brexit kicking in - january 1st 2021 - long after the beginning of the pandemic. we didn’t have food and fuel shortages, rises prices, dramatic staff shortages during last year. we do now. anything remotely similar happening elsewhere is dramatically lower level - a subset of effects due to covid, without the extra layer missing due to changes at borders, ports due to leaving the EU. 

not surprising, any of it, but more dramatic to see it as it’s happening rather than suggested or pointed to prior to this year. and odder given determination to deny it or inability to research realities and present it easily to politicians and public in pretty dramatic levels of denial.

To be fair, Brexit is going so spectacularly badly that i havent had to read coronavirus statistics in the news for over 3 weeks now which is at least one positive.

Financial Times did a recent post mortem of brexit. Takes you close to half an hour to sit through it.

Most important takeaway is that the assumed negative long/midterm impact of the global pandemic is actually all about brexit. However, it’s not as bad as some would have wanted people to believe. The UK economy didn’t crash. But it is bad. And worse compared to what remain would have brought.

If you’re anti-capitalist, please don’t bother watching. It’s propaganda made by the blood sucking reptilian society. Better to focus on your daily yoga session.

don't think it's as frequently assumed impact from a global pandemic, but portrayed ... it's the cover story. as the pandemic fades - and that in itself is intentional, financially, as it's not sustainable due to downturn in trade due also to brexit - the realities of brexit slowly drift in and are accepted by more of the population. it's a very slow trickle, so it will take years. as with many issues decided by governments and of great impact upon the population, the hope will be adjustment will occur. there's still strong doubt that would be possible, because the impacts of brexit were not understood and therefore not negotiated for, so there's a sense they're also playing for time and hoping for someone else to get the blame long down the road. in other words : it's a fuck up, they know it's a fuck up, they don't want it to be their fuck up.

watched this last night. good bit of analysis in there and solid coverage about small businesses. what a shit show for small businesses.  interesting some are choosing to relocate to EU country to avoid all the brexit paperwork and delays etc. i mean.. who wouldn't if they could.
