Spooky dreams... I found the mix a little bit abrasive - maybe because of the white noise component (or is it field recording...) - and also the song could have had something more going on in the latter part (maybe I was not paying attention though ? ). It's totally a personal preference and a mood thing though - it's been a long day and then I tend not to want to listen to a lot of high frequencies I guess.

Reminds me a little of Lustmord, although that stuff is way more darker.

noticed the abrasiveness, too, but thought it sounded intentional and it never surpassed the threshold of uncomfortableness for me, it's just more on the stimulating side of ambient

I really like the balance between repetition and evolvement in this track

Thanks for the comments guys!

Yeah, I like a little bit of edge in my ambience. There are some field recordings mixed in that I recorded back when I was visiting Armenia. The next one is probably a bit more lustmordy actually. Let's see..

I just wanted to stress again that the abrasiveness comment is basically just my opinion having listened to the piece tired after a long day at work. I think I made a bad criticism because it's pointless to give feedback like "uh it sucked because i was not in the mood for that kind of ambient". I'm sorry!

And just like the others said abrasiveness is not necessarily a bad thing, because it is just one color in the magical palette of sound. I would definitely play this piece in a DJ set on the right time in the right place, for example.

No worries, I didn't take it like that. :)

All comments are welcome in any case.

Hi zkom.... As someone with little experience of ambient, my tuppence worth is....what's there certainly sounds ambient and chilled, I just didn't find too much of it. I really like the main harmony/chords used. Though the track didn't seem to change much through the five minutes. I'm a big believer of tracks, whatever genre though especially instrumentals, of having that beginning, middle and end - the "journey" as it were. Some kind of vocal, spoken maybe, and ambient rhythm loop too? But the basis is there for sure...

Okay, I'll stop now!!!

Thanks for the comment!

I think I know what you mean by a journey, a kind of narrative in the track which makes it feel like a story. I certainly like that kind of ambient also, The KLF's Chill Out being one of my all time favorites. But I'm really into drone ambient at the moment so I'm afraid there isn't going to be much structure or rhythmic elements in the next few tracks, lol.

Structure in ambient music is a kind of interesting topic though that I don't think is that much talked about, at least here in watmm. Eno's first ambient album was, although melodic, pretty much an aural wallpaper, but starting from 90s there seems to have been a more kind of structured ambient movement also (like the aforementioned KLF and also FSOL and The Orb). Anyway, people have different tastes.

That one was perfect for me, im not really a specialist with producing this kind of music, but it sounds really well balanced and brings emotions - so gj

Here's some Orb-inspired stuff that also has sample mangling with a software I'm developing.

Let's see if it can survive the Soundcloud copyright system..
