i'm interested to see what happens with new vaccine research, as i can remember a mention of trying to design one that can adapt to appearances of future variants despite not knowing exactly what the characteristics would be, of course, once administered to people. in a sense, no need to chase your tail each year with boosters as you do with less infectious / dangerous things like the flu.

i am pretty sure people aren't quite wrapping their heads around vaccines being bust by mutations, variants. still plenty who think when they themselves are vaccinated it's safer for them forever, and once everyone is vaccinated it's all over forever. i would expect everywhere to have a very good chance of being back to 'square one' multiple times before there's a winding down of track / trace, testing, monitoring variants and everything else that's now everyday. too many people, too many governments to be quick and easy.

Does anyone have experience/advice when it comes to buying self-tests? I want to order some but have no idea what to look out for, prices seem to vary a bit and so far the only 100% reputable source is only selling them per 25 which is currently too costly for me.

somewhat surreal that here in the U.S. a lot of us have a choice as to what vaccine we can get, whereas in so many other countries they are still struggling so massively. based on this and other news reports I've read, what is going on in India right now is indeed a complete and total nightmare.

both my Pfizer shots took a day or two before i started feeling a little icky, not sure if that carries over for the J & J

what you see here is that new cases skyrocketted, and that deaths are currently around 2,000 per day. this means that 1 month from now deaths will be much worse. they could lose 100,000 + people in a month. if they don't get it contained it could be half a million over a few months.

My brother said he had chills & body aches about 36 hours after his J&J shot, so we'll see.

Got the sequel shot last Friday (Pfizer). Worse than the original, where I felt absolutely nothing. The 2nd shot’s effects came on about 24 hours after the fact. Soreness around the arm and ribs on the side where I got it, slight chills came on and a dull headache which eventually turned into a migraine. I have a history of migraines though so I was worried that would happen. I refrained from using any acetaminophen until about 140am because The last time I tried to ride out a headache with no meds it went on for like 3 days. Fuck that. Took a shot of NyQuil (yuck) and got some sleep. Woke up feeling fine. Don’t take acetaminophen if you don’t have to though, as you’ll get a better anti-viral response apparently.
