Gotta love the Trump&Bibi cozy fireplace ethnic cleansing of Gaza presser. What a guy, what a country.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

just saw the clip with them sitting there and trump full on endorsing ethnically cleansing, shit is fucked - I do not think that Jordan or Egypt will ever agree to their plan to move all Palestinians to their countries, but who knows, the US government can no doubt put pressure on them, deny them aid, and sanction them too unless they agree - all the same trump is just talking and not acting, not sending the heavy weapons in an unlimited stream for 15 months of active collective punishment like biden did, and his pressure was no doubt in my mind important for the current temporary ceasefire - highly doubt kamala harris would have been able to do this so quickly or at all - nevertheless I think about this issue every day still, and I fear that given trump's fuckery and the donations he has taken from prominent people who have a stake in this issue from the israeli side, that the idf could be back in there any day at a moment's notice indiscriminately killing women and kids with no strategic aim except to murder as many of them as they can - unfortunately trump and his admin would have no problem running cover for israel just like biden - my thin hope is that he really does not want that war and all it brings to continue, for he seems so far more focused on domestic issues like immigration and the economy

My greater worry is that trump is somehow taken out of the picture and that the people who take the reins just say fuck it and try to do all out war with iran, which would be a disaster, and unfortunately I ultimately think that even with trump in office he can still be easily manipulated so that he ends up doing this anyway or is unable to stop it

For the second time now, Trump has talked about ethnically cleansing Gazans, but the first time he said 1.5 million would have to leave and this time its 1.7/1.8 million people.

There were about 2.2 million people in Gaza in 2023 so what happened to the other 4-800,000? Is it just a coincidence that the higher estimates of death in Gaza are in the 4-500,000 range?

500,000 is probably a little high from things I have heard, although who knows. The official numbers from the hamas ministry of heath, which are used as an official tally by a lot of governments and other organizations, are most likely a very gross underestimate, it may only be the number who have died where the dead body has actually been seen (and maybe most of them have been identified). I have heard that there are probably at least double that number, and that most of them are buried under so much rubble that they will never be identified or receive a proper burial. As the rubble and debris gets cleared from that area, so will those bodies (or what is left of them). They will end up in shipping containers or some other such vessel and shipped by sea to some industrial garbage dump I would imagine.

We may never know, its true, but they have dropped over 70,000 tons of bombs on the captive population of Gaza and at least 70% of the strip is destroyed. Anyone who has watched the footage over the last year has seen the unprecedented levels of death and destruction with their own eyes. Even without the bombings - just imagine the death toll in your city over 15 months if someone built a wall around it, the food supply was cut off and all hospitals, sewage and electricity were destroyed.

Given what we have seen in places like Syria and Chechnya, 4-500,000 dead is eminently plausible, and I would say, likely, and I imagine the state department thinks the same, hence why trump is using those numbers.

I think about this all the time, especially when I hear people in America dismissing or not speaking accurately about what has been happening over there (or worse, people who have without reflection accepted American/Israeli propaganda and somehow support or defend what israel is doing). I silently observe them speaking and sometimes look at their eyes while they speak, and it seems like they are literally dead themselves somehow as they utter the words, or like they are spiritually dead somehow, like they have lost all moral force or ability to think for themselves, very surreal experience. What I see in them I ultimately see and feel in myself, as I have paid taxes here and even in a very small amount have in some part contributed to the carnage over there, and there was and remains no meaningful way for US citizens to oppose it.

I am sure there are lots of people in America still, though, that can shift their perspective and look at this stuff and imagine what it would be like if it was visited upon themselves, would be great if policy makers the world over were able to think this way and communicate the experience to their constituents.

can't make this shit up. i bet there's a bug in it.

Based on recent trump statements and trying to observe the political winds as best I can via news articles and social media, it seems like the current temporary ceasefire was, like some have commented, notably judge napalitano, an inauguration ceasefire. Seems like the idf could be back to the full scale collective punishment in strip very soon. Israeli citizens have been protesting that they want the deal to remain so that all of the hostages can be returned, and those citizens might be the only real pressure stopping netanyahu from resuming war, hoping for the best but expecting the worst, including all out regional war.

yikes! - trump said earlier this week that if all hostages were not released that 'all hell would break loose' or some other such nonsense - I really hope that the temporary deal holds, but it looks like here that Trump is giving Israel the green light to go back in - have heard people saying that the ceasefire, from israeli perspective, was really just a ploy to get a few hostages back and to rest and recharge the IDF soldiers - am very much hoping that there has been behind the scenes some pressure from America and also pressure from within Israel to prevent Likud from choosing to go back into the strip - it would essentially be a death sentence to any remaining hostages, not to mention that it would foment instability and risk regional war, which trump ostensibly does not want - either way it tough to see what will happen and hoping for best outcome for all parties involved

I saw a video on social media this week but forgot to bookmark it of a bunch of elected officials being escorted out of the knesset because they were yelling at netanyahu for extending the war and condemning the hostages to death - hopefully this same attitude is energized in the israeli populace, although at the end of the day likud does not give a fuck about its own citizens or the hostages it seems, and also broadly speaking i have heard that a majority of the citizens of that country may be upset about leaving the hostages to die but they fully support the military action in west bank gaza etc.

Schumer's an old turd. He already shat the bed with his capitulating to the MAGAs a week and a half ago by voting in favor of CR. Even Pelosi called him out on that move.

He's partly the reason I'm considering changing my party affiliation to Independent on my voter registration.
