the changing amplitude values move the woofer, writing the information to the air as changes in pressure, which move out from the woofer in a sequence. 

the pressure changes are interpretted by the ear, which measures the sequence of changes in pressure.

so, if i'm getting this right, the nervous system receives the data in it's derived state: frequency, because the ear measures change in pressure, which is change in amplitude, which is frequency.

just realized that the mind and computers operate at different levels of sound. you're right though, the mind operates with the basic dimension of frequency (and time).

Thank you for that considered and thoughtful reply.  I trust you took my criticism of your criticism as nothing more than a friendly jab.  I do respect your right to be different, otherwise we'd all be fighting for the same pair of shoes.

You do make some very valid points.  Nauseating color, check.  Pretentious addendum, ('mechanically altered'), check.  Cutsey pun title, check.  As you mention, the art has a retro vibe, though I would peg the aesthetic as 1980's color and wire frame graphics put through the then modern blender.  

cichlisuite is perhaps the most lighthearted and playful title in the entire AE catalog.  I've always felt the art, with all its whimsical quirks, to be a very good match for the music within.

Yes! Just... although frequency is change in amplitude, what defines it is the speed of that change. If we deduce it completely it’s all about time; time/speed of amplitude (frequency domain) and time of events (time domain). That’s why we cant conceptualize music in other ways than as our internal experience, bc time is mind’s internal concept (space is external); we sense ourselves in/through time. That’s why music matters to us humans more than other forms of art.
