A quick write-up about a short Smart Systems PA in somewhere in Cornwall, 1991.

“Pinn had decided that one track was what they got for £100
Pure Pinn economics. The promoters rushed backstage ‘great the crowd love it but go and play more’
‘No we’ve only brought one song’
Things turned nasty, bouncers were called.”

Been at this over a month and now, finally, the first ever proper FSOL release!

Got a lot of information from this incredible Sound on Sound article where they discuss the making of the track, which is an essential read in its own right.

Couple of remixes to cover tomorrow, and then it's off to 1992, a year of huge change which starts with a couple of alias releases and ends with their debut release on Virgin and their first radio transmissions.

Very good reads again Ross, I should dig out the Metropolis and Semi-Real singles I have. I don’t remember being very impressed with either of them at the time or since, but not played them for years

Might be an idea to add something about the video for Papua New Guinea that appeared on the 1993 Future Shock VHS. The best of a bad bunch. I recorded the whole thing to tape at the time and probably listened to it more than anything else for a year or so.

I've held on to my copy of Future Shock, and I've kept it well - everything's NM.

You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.
