this really isnt a very great album and it certainly doesnt propel him amongst warp greats he couldnt be further.

agreed

i've heard it a few times now. i like it, but i think i like empty the bones of you better. there are 4 or 5 really amazing tracks on this new album but just not enough corkage all the way through

it's an entirely different style though ... more like musique concrete-ish, neo-classical, something like that. the hardcore bangin' tracks were relegated to the EPs; i like the new direction

not that he ever has, but on body riddle he seemed to make a conscious decision to shy away from flashy glitches and focus more on mood and atmosphere.

i too approve of the new direction.

yeah yeah music is rotted one note *yawn*

nah i like it, just like i like music is rotted one note. but . . . i dont find myself pumped up all the time to put the record in like say, if it was drukqs or something when it first came out

I've been disappointed with electronics lately.

that's because 'experimental' electronic music has become anything but experimental. too many people with laptops try to sound like the warp roster instead of carving out their own niche. personally, i'm much more excited about electronics as they occur within the sphere of a band, ie: animal collective, fly pan am, grizzly bear, ooioo, mum, phon, xiu xiu, etc.

bob dedication is probably my favorite electronic track of the year

if one were to make a properly sequenced album out of throttle clarence and throttle furniture (five medium-length tracks, eight shorter tracks), the album would be slightly better than body riddle, i think

i would argue it would be fucking brilliant

though it's hard to deny the cohesive flow and mood of the main disc. i'm pretty happy with each standing alone and i can see why they do so.

but with some work, clark could've made a corker single disc out of the two with more songs standing on their own and having immediate appeal.

but i guess it wouldn't be a thinkin' man's record like body riddle is

right, both albums (the album and the 'album') would be really really good. 'body riddle' seems to get better every time i hear it; i can't recall a time when my opinion has changed so much about a CD. when i first heard it, i was really disappointed that it wasn't as catchy/electronic music-ish as ETBOY, but, that's just silly

JESUS CHRIST THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING

I have been listening to it so much lately. It is so densely layered, every time I hear it it is like an epiphany. No wonder, with a track like "Matthew Unburdened" which basically is the soundtrack to a huge mental baggage-loss. The album leaves me stunned every time, especially with the force that "The Autumnal Crush" leaves on.

This album sounds like electrified regurgitated jazz...by the way...that "free jazz sax solo" on Roulette Thrift Run is actually the sound of a door creaking!! When I first discovered this it was a mind fuck!!!

i would love the autumnal crush, but he blows his load too quick in that one. sick first few minutes, kinda builds up then just kind of fizzles out after that

Yeah, I rarely have enough patience to listen to the whole track... Everything happens in the first few minutes only.

y'know what's cool?

someone told me that what i always thought of as 'crazy free jazz sax solo' on roulette thrift run - easily my favourite track on the album - is actually a slowed down sample of a creaky hinge.

it always sounded like a creaky hinge to me. but then, I listen to quite a lot of free jazz.

I enjoy the fragility of the rolling lol tbh. The broken lol is like our own mortality staring us in the face, reminding us to enjoy that sunset.

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but I love this album to death. With that idiom in mind, It single-handedly prevented my suicide in high school. Bit of a personal thing to be putting out there on the webs, but I need to put it out there nonetheless. The Autumnal Crush...
