RIP to WATMM Discussion thread

Recommended Posts

Speaking of money... 76 bucks is all that is left in the WATMM coffers, (hosting is 100 bucks) so I think with the new forum up and running, there's really no need for WATMM to continue beyond this month.

Please don't donate any money or anything - time to say goodbye...

I need to see if there is a way I can mass-cancel any remaining active subscriptions before they renew...

Awwww.

Very sad. Member since 2014 but lurking since whenever the big reboot was, 2006? idk. Anyway, it's always been my go to for gear/tech info and interesting community music. So many cool niche music makers here :). Actually found some of my favourite artists through here (was blasting th'idiot earlier :D), and would never have heard of them otherwise. Will be very sad to see it all go. More Dead internet fodder. I suppose like most forums that have vanished long the way, the people who created them are too controlling to let go of them organically. Brought it into the world, take it out of the world type of mentality. I know most of it is off topic banter, but a LOT of knowledge will die with this forum. And with it the culture. But there we go. I'm glad it existed for this long, and I'm thankful for Joyrex and the mods and the people that contributed.

Unless PayPal have finally got their shit together in the last few years (might be possible), I don't think there is.
Always had to explain to customers in previous jobs multiple times about cancelling an auto subscription themselves within PayPal when I worked for companies that used it.

It's obviously a pleasure to browse Keyosc, but reading this post still makes me a bit sad and nostalgic.

Thank you once again Joyrex for creating WATMM, hope you'll have some memories to cherish, all the best!

Thanks for putting up with all the nonsense for 25 years @Joyrex

When the watmm forum is turned off will it be possible to have a holding page that mentions keyosc? So that people who only visit occasionally know where everyone went?

Thanks Joyrex.

I still remember hearing Sixtyniner on the radio, grabbing some Boards of Canada off Soulseek, googling them and finding this place. Even though I wasn't posting much anymore besides the occasional burst of activity, I probably would have stuck around for the rest of my life. But I guess this is it.

Goodbye.

Does anyone want to send out a press release or sumthin, maybe a few of the electronic sites might pick it up. Would be a shame to go out with a wimper.

Positive Metal Attitude

joyrex about to have that "nicole kidman divorce from tom cruise just finalized" moment. .. or something like that.

Well, that would require continuing to pay hosting fees. Which Joyrex doesn't want to do, so likelihood is pretty slim.

He said he's keeping the domain forever though, so there will be a parking page or something

Last post after 21/22 years of lurking and hanging around here.

Massive thanks @Joyrex for keeping up it going for so long, the majority of my life. Feels weird that it'll be gone. Hope to see you around. Wishing you all the best!

Thanks 4 everything joyboss ❤

I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

I'm thinking it's his duty to cancel annual payments he's taking for a site that's supposed to shut down soon? Like what the actual fuck are you defending
