Naming the new home: THE FINALS

I'm not sure how people could think that a name like "keyosc" will help bringing in new members. Who are those people? Keyosc is way too much "stuck up your own arse"-niche territory for me. But hey, opinions are like a$$-holes. Don't want to make a point about it. Anymore than I've already done.

As far as I'm concerned the most important thing at this point, is the design of the forum and all that. I'd rather have a cool looking keyosc forum than an crappy looking WCBYD forum. 

And given we're only down to two options, I would have preferred to also have some designs to choose from. It doesn't make much sense to choose a name if you don't know what it will look like. (read: I don't think a design will work equally well for both options)

 @gnarlybog made some good keyosc designs. I'd be happy if the new forum has a similar theme.

A long time ago a cousin had sex with a member of Bros just after they first got famous.  She had a breakdown in the 00s at some point.  Haven't seen her in 20 years.  Probably dead.

yeah I really like the current "chose your style" forum template. its pretty easy to implement these. 

the name doesn't _really_ matter (watmm was a crap name) and the logo doesn't matter (watmm has a crap logo) what matters is that we all turn up there and talk about stuff, and (crucially) that it stays online and doesn't run out of money or traffic quotas or whatever

Hello! Thanks for thinking about the new members! I’m one of them, and after reading through this thread and the rest of the forum, I’m really glad I stumbled upon it before it shuts down and becomes history! To be honest, it wasn’t the forum’s name that helped me find it, but rather my search for Max/MSP patches and Autechre reviews (my parents used to talk about them) so I googled “max + idm” and that’s how I ended up here! Great community, and of course, I’ll be following you to the new forum with the fantastic name “Keyosc”! Btw, whoever came up with that name for a forum must be a freaking genius!!! Im so impressed that Ive decided to name myself something along those lines!

True that. I am afraid that when the old forum goes down and the new one will begin to get used we will lose 80% of the people that used to post. Of course a decrease in active users is inevitable bc there will be people that haven't read this thread but still..

I always thought it looked like an easter egg cracking open. I guess thats good design if it's interpretation is so open-ended. I think Joyrex himself did the graphic design right?

that's what happened in 2005 when watmm went dark for months. a bunch of the old guard left. then usernames got changed when people re-joined. it certainly impacted the sense of community of knowing who's who on here. it'll take time to naturally re-develop again on "keyosc" but I'm sure it will happen.
