I just want to take this opportunity to really express how much joy i'm going to take from this thread when the truth comes out.

Every post in this thread will be screen shot and logged down as an official record that I really am infact the only person on watmm that knows what squarepusher sounds like.

Anyone that doesnt want to be humiliated endlessly by this complete mugging off should come forward or come to your senses now. I'm going to publish web sites dedicated to how badly you got mugged off. I'm gonna be there to tell your grandchildren and spelling the word "MUG" with my piss on your grave.

if you're wrong will you leave?

but seriously man, chillllllllllllllllllllll

wow. im 100% sure its real. you lot who think its fake seem to have some justification, because of the drums, but the songs overall and melodies, and the sound of it all. it makes sense for it to be squarepusher. i dunno, even if this isnt squarepusher, some of this tracks i love, like rotate electrolyte and plotinus.

people are saying that modern bass guitar is only squarepusher sounding track. perhaps thats why its the only song to go out its way to sound skitz and go nuts. the other songs are doing something else.

evidence that it is squarepusher

I think you should wait till you hear the album before you start slagging tom off to high hell. This song is silly jungly anthmy banger.

The rest of the album is actually a lot simpler. Less emphasis on complicated drums patterns. more emphasis on melody. Its the album of someone who is happy and doesnt have to try so hard.

Like i said before, the feeling i get from listening to this album is triumph and goosebumps on the back of the neck. It's the most accessible album yet and the best im my opnion.

Right im not trying to be a cool dude but ive got the new Squarepusher Album. I thought id tell you.

It is the fucking TITS MATE.

Its probably the most accessible release so far. its much more stripped back than ever before.. Melody and harmony taking centrre stage now. rather than complex beat head fuk style

You know Tetra Sync, the major minor keychange hair on the back of the neck sort of Cosmic union. Triumphant style? u know that, well its a lot of

that vibes. Its fucking amazing, beautiful stuff. Tom is goin to put it out with a DVD! with a live performance in Turin and camden. and the second disk is this album.

its so wicked!!! you are gonna love it!

Apparently from a recent interview with Luke Vibert, Tom has “stipped down”, “got a lot more sensible about making music”.
(from Aquagak)

plus it's been accepted as the real thing on numerous hardcore mp3 trackers, they don't take fakes lightly

WAHHHHHH!!!! WHERE'S THE DRILL AND BASS ?????? WAHHHHHHHHHHHH I HATE CHANGE, BNECAUSE I'M AUTISTIC WAHHHH IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR SQUAREPUSHER TO CHANGE STYLES EVEN THOUGH HE'S DONE IT NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE WAHHHHH

the evidence for it being squarepusher wins, and if you disagree you're officially a fucking stupid twat

Still haven't heard anything off this, except Modern Bass Guitar, obviously, on the WARP homepage.

Regardless of whether or not this leak is fake, I'd like to see LLC play funky bass guitar for Simon Cowell.

Larry you are setting yourself up for the inevitable gigantic face slap, you obviously don't know THAT much about Squarepusher and I can't wait for you to eat your words. Noob.

a so-called squarepusher fan should have noted that he often changed his style and that there actually were a lot of tracks that are not dril'n'bass on his albums (budakhan, miorn, some tracks on fmwt....) those werent in the same style as this one is, but thats what its all about. hes not gonna imitate himself and if he feels like doing a poppy electro album he does. i don't like the drums on most of the tracks on hello everythin myself but it's amazingly stupid to think that this is not squarepusher. listen to the melodies, listen to the bass playing, listen to synth sounds. youre stupid.

hehe maybe we'll hear more cut-up drums on the final release (y know, like the difference betwen my red hot car girl and the album version) - no, i don't think that's very likely. but it would be cool.

I'd like to see Ceephax remix this album....???

this is the real album, it came off a promo disc. the only thing that would make this not squarepusher is if the actual pressing was different from the promo.

Wow, I'm listening to Hello meow for the first time right now... even after everything I read I didn't expect it to sound this drastically different and... cute. I can understand why someone would think this isn't squarepusher. It really is quite different for him.

I'm really enjoying Theme from Sprite. This is great! I really like what he's doing melodically in this song. The chord changes are gorgeous... I really wasn't expecting this! This is his best composition that I've heard thus far, by a long shot. The arrangement's wonderful. i've often found his more melodic stuff to be careless in the arrangement department, but this is really satisfying. He sounds more like a band as opposed to just one guy doodling away.

Onto Bubble life. Wow, it's ridiculous that there are people 100% convinced this isn't Squarepusher. His musical sensibilities are still there. His sound evolved a lot more than I was expecting, but it's still unmistakabley Tom Jenkins.

Planetarium. Drums here are boring and don't do much for an intro, but the synth stuff is quite nice. And... this sounds EXACTLY like Squarepusher. Anyone doubting this has really bad ears. If I heard this under a different name and someone told me it was not Tom Jenkins, I would not believe them. I love the melodic progression in this...gorgeous. He's really come into his own as a composer. So far no flashy drum work has been needed --it would ruin a lot of this I think.

Ooh, I'm liking how stark and haunted Vacuum garden sounds. This is giving me goosebumps. This is the sort of thing I look for in ambient music. Can't wait to listen to this during a late night walk about. I'll be looking over my shoulder every 20 seconds. It's right up there with that Aphex track off Druqs with the hypnotic bass drones...eerie stuff.

Onto Circlewave 2. Loving the finger picked acoustic stuff in this --great resolve on the major chord. The atmospheres are perfect. The drums I could take or leave, but I think that about every track where he plays them himself. They're at least fairly unobtrusive here. I can't believe that one guy was going on about how random and unmusical this is. How fucking far off the mark can you be? This is his most musical offering to date.

I think Cronecker King had an encoding problem in the version I got.

Rotate Electrolyte sounds balls, at least for the beginning... this sounds totally unmastered. Hmmm. This is more like what I feared the album might sound like. But with 6 solid tracks (maybe 7) preceding it, I can't complain. Things at least get interesting melodically after the three minute point in this song. The drums sound awful and do nothing to compliment the rest. Love the bits where the bass harmonizes with the synths. The outro reminds me of Tundra 4. So far this has been the weakest of the lot, but still better than usual in terms of melody. Drums sucked.

Welcome to Europe. Why thanks Tom! So far ireland's... got the best cheeseburger I've ever eaten and CD stores where I can find virtually every artist I wanted to buy in Victoria but couldn't find. Still no sign of Chris Clark unfortunately, except for that crappy Clarence Park CD I already own. Again, the synth stuff in this song is cool but I don't understand the point of the drums. They don't add anything to it, they're just sort of there, totally unmixed from the sound of things. I'd rather hear him play in a track like this, and I don't even like him as a drummer. I just think it could work here. But i'm not the producer, so whatever, I'll deal. This track didn't do anything for me upon first listen.

Plotinus has some cool disonance stuff going on in the in the guitar line that starts things off...could be one of those contra(?) basses, the ones with higher pitch. Hmmm, again the drums sound really tacky/weak here, as does the bass synth patch he's using. Sounds unmastered. But I do like the chord changes at least. ...I'm bored... Again, this is so obviously Squarepusher it's not even funny. Well, amybe it's a little funny. The higher bass bit's cool, if a bit high in the mix. This song could kick ass if he'd mix the damn thing. Sounds like he just sequenced/played the tracks then said "to hell with compression/EQ". I like the noisier section where the drums come a bit more up front. The fast, almost acidy sounding synth is pretty cool.

Modern Bass Guitar. I hated the intro on this the first time I heard it, and I still do. The bass/effected drums in the left sound great however. Wicked programming on the bass. And finally he has a bit of fun with the drums after the three minute point --definitely a high point for the percussion on this album, though it still takes a back seat. The arrangement's a bit awkward, but it's a wacky song anyway so who cares. Amazing bass work, as one might expect from the title.

Orient Orange. I'm already anticipating a whole lot of atmospheric experimental stuff here. This sounds like something I might hear on the EKT forum... that's not to say that it's bad, because there's good stuff over there from time to time. It's not something I'd hear and think "damn this guy needs to get signed" but it's okay background music. I like the way it swells around four minutes. This could be perfect in a D'Argento or other foreign B movie flick. I don't think i could sit through another four minutes right now, but I could see it hitting the spot if I were wandering around somewhere with my discman, how I normally listen to music anyway. All right, I skipped to the end, doesn't seem to go anywhere. I prefer Mars Volta's soundscapes to this.

Overall, this album's a more significant progression than I was expecting. I really like what he's done with his melodies, much stronger than they've ever been in the past. The drums for the first half I thought complimented the music and served their purpose without being too flashy, for the second half they just sounded lazy and didn't add anything in my opinion. It sort of bugged me just because he could have done so much more with it, but I guess that's usually the case. In short:

Melodies: YAY!

Drums: meh.

Production: some gorgeous bits, some shoddy careless bits. I'd love to hear him work with a great producer some day. Tom Jenkins + Nigel Godrich would be an auditory orgasm.

You people doubting the validity of this being Squarepusher are dumb. Whether or not it's the mastered version is another matter.

Edited by Zephyr_Nova

note that nobody on xltronic thinks it's fake (that's where the leak came from i think)

so now that we've established it's not fake....

i agree with whoever said that this is a great intro to squarepusher. from the first track it's a very easy listen despite retaining tom's classic sound and some impressive (to me) bass playing. as the listener nears the halfway mark he might start to suspect that tom is in fact as crazy as we know him to be, which will be confirmed by the time the disc ends its revolution. the listener is then invited to explore tom's massive back catalogue and presto, another squarepusher fan in the making.

Hello Meow == Hello Kitty == Hello Everything! Hello Kitty Book, which inspired the album cover, which Easterlingman posted an image of several pages ago.

The album's real, has been real for several months.

Haven't heard anything yet, but if it is more melodic and not so crazy, I'm all for it. He really does have a good ear for melody and should focus on that more than crazy programming all the time...

what do you need besides confirmation from joyrex and people that know squarepusher personally, as well as people that physically have copies of the promo?
