i posted about 70 unfinished bollocks tracks of mine made with my really shit home setep and extremely limited ability and still people ask that question?

i don't think i ever heard those. just for some reason thought you and philie-t were connected, but clearly that is not the case, so my apologies.

i think this is the most boring thread ever.

well, looks like it's real. soundmurderer says it is, i found a review site with mp3 clips from the promo cd that are the same, another guy says he has the promo cd and it's the same, etc.

well whatever. i don't know how you go from ultravisitor, venus no. 17, shit mostly everything else he's done to this fucking watered down toss. i hope this is some inside joke birthday present to his niece or little sister or something.

oh yah, maybe it'll grow on me :/

i think larry's mind is twisting beyond the scope of this thread - soon he'll be telling us that the actual album is fake, and we're all being duped by a masterful but secretive internet demon bent on fooling us into thinking a track is by tom when in fact it is not by tom.

I think Hello Everything, like Do You Know Squarepusher before it, is in fact by Squarepusher's evil twin, Flexo.

squarepusher's evil twin is called rehsuperauqs, n00b

:getlost:  :braindance::cool: :dizzy: :dizzy: If this is such an "obvious fake" how did they manage to get an obviously high quality version of "the modern bass guitar" track which has only been available on AM radio-esque Warp website streaming?

because it's a fake leak released by squarepusher, the real leak has yet to arrive

my penis is fuckin massive

i love thoughts like these. most sane people have a cutoff filter before a thought hits their mouth or the keys that says "WAIT NO! NOT INTELLGIBLE! TOO IGNORANT!". Apparently it's been broken, hopefully by too much cheap beer.

but srsly dude. While I will say that there's some great catchy melodies that remind me of u-ziq trying to rip off his contemporaries, it sounds like squarepusher trying to be squarepusher, like a sad caricature. Not actually cutting it, but mailing in some tried and tested formulas, but on a considerably more facile level, and passing it off as a new album. How could he not be taking the piss when his opening track sounds like a reject from a micromusic competition? And how could he not be taking the piss with an album cover like that? I know the fucker takes himself too seriously, but to collage real instruments on the cover, himself with 10 digits on a mixer, xylophones...are you kidding me? Enveloping a cd that sounds completely digital and synthetic, with raw drum samples and cheesy sounding synths? What absolute twattle....

It's my personal opinion that people feel around these forums feel so obligated to like squarepusher that they'll use transparent defenses like "OH WELL HAY FUCK COMPLEX HARDWARE DSP AND WANKERY AND NOODLING AND ANYTHING COMPLEX, HE'S STRIPPED IT DOWN TO SOMETHING MELODIC AND MUSIC GUYS"....are you joking? This sounds so sophomore for a guy like squarepusher that he must have fucking been in a light sleep after a JOLT OF AMNESIA to be serious about this and let it get out of his bedroom studio. What absolute fucking twattle. It's funny how you don't see spikes like these usually with new releases...the more someone says they don't believe it, the more dedicated fans will blow hot air out even in the face of something mediocre. The scales are imbalanced.

You've been swindled

@Cbrown

I can appreciate what your saying, but to be honest I couldnt disagree more.

As has already been said, the fully tweaked out stuff has been heard hundreds of times before, and as good as it is, I'm genuinely relieved to hear an album which concentates on aa different aspect of his musicianship. He's done it before and I cant understand why its caused such a fuss this time around.

I think that a lot of the time, really intense programming and editing is more of a masking for a week idea. If you took one of those sorts of tracks and stripped all the window dressing away, you wouldnt be left with anything that remarkable. Obviously this isnt true with every track, but the majority. A good melody or a tight groove work for themselves and sound great without any serious editing and to me, thats what this album is about.

I think that over the top programming can sometimes ruin a track since it often distracts the listener from the melody and chord structuring, which takes a lot more soul and thought to get right IMO. I really like Tundra 4 for example, but I'd really like to hear a simplified version of it because its the arrangement and chords that I really enjoy (not to mention that bassline)

It seems like every album he releses annoys someone, on the one hand youve got people who like the "check out my DSP and granulizer mess about with FM bassline" stuff, and some people prefer the "Time to break out the rhoads and drumkit and slap my bass over it" stuff. I personaly think his best stuff is the soundscape stuff on DYK, so I'm probably the least catered for, but thats not the point.

What makes good music for me is emotion and mood. As much as I love go plastic, there isnt a shread of emotion on it, HND has some but its still an unashamed wig out. Ultravisitor has bits but a lot of it is masked away by DSP fuckery. Bt I think hello everything has a lot of emotion and feeling on it. A little bit of soul to make up for the souless-ness of go plastic, (most of) DYK, and Ultravisitor.

I can only imagine that after all these albums, he's sat back and decided to be a musician for a change instead of a programmer, and fair play.

At the end of the day, these are only my opinions and I dont suppose many will share them. On the contrary, I expect a couple "your talikng shit" responses since th8is thread doesnt seem to be about opinion, but rather more aboiut stating opinion as fact.

I really like this album, it keeps growing on me as all of his other material has. I like this regardless of whether its squarepusher or not because it has something which so much of todays music is laking. Emotional depth, and soulful ness.

Continue this argument as you all see fit, I cant be fukt anymore since its getting extreamly dull and repetitive. Ther are so many people here who have stated little more that, "Its not squarepusher because I dont like it, I like all squarepusher but Idont like this, therfore its not squarepusher" fuzzy logic or what?

I really like it, was suspicious of it at first, not in terms it being a fake leak, but a bit tentative towards it. I was the same with Ultravisitor, took me a while to let my guard down. This is a lot easier to get into than UV though and it's great!

Perhaps I'd enjoy a tad more mentalism or if it was a touch more caustic in places, but shit me, Tom didn't consult me while writing it?!

It took me a while to get into Tom's music in the first place, sounded levelled wrong to me. Not anymore. The Squarewindow 3" sounded like unfinished tracks to me first time I heard it, now I love it, Abacus is a treat! Anyone who is a Squarepusher obsessive and owns his back catalogue will be able to hear Tom in these tracks. Some music takes a while to get into and afterwards is very rewarding, Analaord, Empty The Bones Of You anyone? Otherwise accept that sometimes you're not gonna like all of an artists catalogue, Neil Young for instance.

I'm mega excited about the digital singles, what the fuck are they gonna sound like? Seems to hve hardly got a mention on here. His previous Singles and EP's aren't much of a guide because there's all sorts of stuff going on. Perhaps if they're different from the album more of you will like them? Or maybe not.

DVD would be a beauty, no doubt!

Bring it on Tom...!
