Yeah maybe, but its far from unlistenable.

The thing is, they wouldve had 2 options on how to record it live. 1 wouldve been to record straight from a mixer which wouldve meanta clean recording, but no crowd noise. The other wouldve been to record as they did with a few mics setup.

Its not the greatest of recordings, but the problem with recording anything live is that you cant re-do it if the recording isnt great.

Either way, Ive heard much much worse live recordings.

what about a desk recording with crowd mics?

toms working on a proper live cd too. with the best performances from the tour he did the other year.

I think the problem with this type of recording is that it can sound pretty fake, like a bedroom mix tape with crowd noise over the top a la Ultravisitor. If you record the set strictly from a crowd perspective then the recording will obviously sound like your in the crowd. I like the live CD because you can close your eyes and feel like youre there. If they'd recorded out of the desc as well then it wouldnt carry that same impression IMO. Granted at times its quite painful to listen to, but the couple times Ive seen SP live it was the same. Was anybody else at the HMS president gigs? That was fucking brutal on the ears!

I guess as far as live recordings go it depends on what your after and what equiptment you have to hand. It whether you want a "in the crowd" type recording or a polished sounding unrealistic perspective. To be honest, if its a polished sounding recording your after, you may as well just cue up the same tracks in winamp since he doesnt seem to do much to any of them, and there isnt any mixing to speak of.

Are the digital singles available now? Has this finally been confirmed as Squarepusher, or are some still in denial because the album isnt 60 minutes of amen thrashing?

i only got hard normal daddy 3 months ago, and i just dont like it as much as ultravisitor, which , stupid random guitar scrapings aside is a beatiful album

ultravisitor was the first electronic music album i ever bought, thinking about it.

Glad you noticed. It's really a great mix of dnb and funky - jazz, and

qiute a lot of classical stuff there...but blended in modern electronic music

nicely.Really stylistic.

Like pushing a symphony in a plaid-like, but more sorted out and

suprising soundspace.

Don't you just love the instrumental parts?
