But are the Grime and Grime 2 compilations on Rephlex a good buy? 2 has kode9 on it so it's prolly deadly.

it's very early kode and mystikz and stuff. some of it is kinda primitive-sounding, but it has its charm.

Got to give props to Rephlex, they were on that sound really early, and exposed a whole new audience to that sort of music. I remember Grime 1 was certainly my introduction into the scene when it came out.

No mention of the new triple pack LP from Mala Digital Mystikz yet?! For shame WATMM! I love love LOVE the really 80's style synth splashes on this album... sounds like a bleaker, updated Bladerunner soundtrack with mountains of subbass... perhaps that's just me.

Stop calling what you listen to dubstep Wes! You want idm, you make it, and the dubstep you listen to is basically idm....

I just put a lot of the more dancy "dubstep" into my idm folder....it is no longer dubstep to me.

Crazy basslines and two step rhythms is what it was always about and at least "brostep" is sticking to that credo.

Dropp by Autechre might as well be the first real dubstep track, but it isn't, it's idm as fuck and we all know this!
