Zole, you guys need better friends/girlfriends. Every girlfriend I've had has at least tolerated even the most wacky stuff that I listen to.

Well, she tolerates almost everything. But not this... don't forget this has to be played on a 5.1 system, which is in our living room.

He didn't, I emailed Jochen yesterday saying I was a little concerned as I never got an email when I placed the order in the first place. He apologised and said it had been dispatched on Monday and should arrive shortly (as it did today !)

It might be because we ordered it the non-conventional way and not directly through the Simply Superior site....

Has anyone listened to it all the way through yet? Im off to a festival this weekend, it might be something I will stick on Sunday night when I get back

can the dvds be played on a pc dvd player ? i dont have a 5.1 system...

ouch, i received them but i thought it could be played on a dvd player, linked to a stereo hifi, obviously not... its REALLY time to get a 5.1 thing

You'll probably be OK - as long as you've got playback set to stereo it'll no doubt just combine the channels down to 2.0.

I had Hafler Trio's - Exactly As I Say which was in 5.1 & DTS before owning a surround setup, and it played back fine through headphones .... (though obviously it wasn't in surround )

as far as i know the only sounds on the dvd are 5.1 or this DTS thing & cannot be played via stereo...

Read my second sentence again my dear - I've done it and it works !

EDIT: In fact I was curious so just tried it on my work PC with crappy onboard soundcard - Plays it back in stereo fine

despite i dont really trust people who brings hafler trio dvds at work, thanks a lot, you're right : i finally managed to play it ! (but my pc doesnt reckon the sound straight away... strange as all my musical dvds plays very simply)

I'm tempted to buy this but probably only because I'm an Autechre completist, wasn't impressed by the 1st volume, bought the second recently but not played it yet. Someone convince me to part with 30 Euro

BUNKUM: If you didn't like the first one I'd probably not bother with this as it's a definite continuation of the same theme/style. Saying that though from the [very] brief bits I played to check it worked in 2.0 the ideas certainly sounds a lot more interesting and developed.

Guess I should give the first 2 volumes a listen before deciding. There's certainly a fair few records vying for my cash at the moment.

i really liked the first two series (being both a fan of Ae & H3O) but from what i've heard so far (70min of the first dvd), its a fantastic release.

so for those who have listened in 5.1 surround sound how is the surround sound? IS it noticeable? thats the first question i always ask because 90% of surround sound music releases are more 'stereo enhanced' than actually fully surround sound. I'd imagine its probably pretty subtle if it's ambient, but the genre lends itself to some really interesting spatial tricks you can only do in 5.1 and not stereo

I got the package today... It's very droney but I haven't checked it on 5.1 yet. The first DVD is DVD9 and seems to have 4 hours of music, then there's another DVD so it looks like at least 6 hours of music?

I'm digging it so far.

anybody listen to this on a proper 5.1 setup yet?

I've listened to it on my laptop 5.1 speaker setup but alas the speakers are shite so I can't comment on the quality of the surround design. Unfortunately we've moved offices as I would've loved to have heard it on proper broadcast spec monitors in the editing suite that we had next door.....

Works fine through my laptop and windows media player, just select audio track 2.... Sounds great through my headphones

Literally just moved house so not set my stereo up yet....
