Omar is one of the best characters in any series I've ever watched.

Gimme a pack of Newpawts. How do?

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.

i've always wondered if "real life bubbles" is supposed to be a reference to the wire? Is that gent in your avatar the real life bubbles?

well it's not who the character is based on, to my knowledge, but that is who I am refering to. He reminds me of Bubbles, except he's an alcoholic. Long live Henry Earl.

The real Bubbles (more or less) was named Gary McCullough, and was also the basis for one of the main characters in "The Corner" of the same name. He was involved in stealing metal and all that and David Simon did an article about him called "The Metal Man" before shadowing him for The Corner book. Bubbles is also partially based on a police informant like him, which is probably where more of his mannerisms come from than anything.

No spoilers-

Ive just finished season 5 and thought it wasnt quite as good as the others- the main story was a little bit OTT for the Wire (even more than Hamsterdam in season 3) and the media thing didnt grab me me too much

But its still by far the best TV show. Ever

Yeah, the last series did get a bit much, I didnt buy the Jimmy McNulty story at all. Its was still by far some of the best television ive seen and series 5 was let down by the 4 series that came before it and nothing else on TV. It was all worth it for Method Man's last scene.

I don't really see why people feel like they have to "buy" the McNulty serial killer storyline. It's still television. But even so, Simon learned from coroners that they way McNulty set up the bodies is the most evasive and foolproof way to commit a murder, and leave a homicide detective clueless. So in that sense, it is plausible.
