there is a track you HAVE to listen to in the 8 hour broadcast of autechre, it is located right after that old dude talks about a philosophical theory....anyways it sounds just diskusting and is pure torture. if you can find it and listen to it youll know what im talkin about

anyways ...listening to second bad vilbel leaves a shit taste in your mouth but it is still a pure good track

For me [on Confield anyways] I've always found Parhelic Triangle the most disturbing as it sounds like some dark ancient ritual with all those gamelan thingies shooting around.

yeah, parhelic triangle could put a person into a panic attack if they heard it at the wrong moment. it's like the song's short of breath, and the more you notice this, the shorter the breaths are....

Pro Radii

I used to run the 2 mile track event in high school, which was 8 laps around a 400 meter track. By the time i was on my 7th lap, i would always be in this very mentally dark place as a result of fatigue, exhaustion, and the monotony of running 8 laps around a track in 11> minutes. But anyways, whenever this would happen, Pro Radii would be playing loud and clear in my head and it just sounded vulgar, macabre, and overall very disturbing

The (voice?) samples and melody at the very end of Sublimit always haunt me, especially in contrast with the jocular beginning.

Funny, I find this to be one of their most beautiful moments. It's like by the end of Untilted they've spent the span of 3 albums pulverizing melodies in a meat grinder, and then somehow one manages to break free from the detritus. So yeah, hauntingly beautiful.

i'm bumpin this to mention VI Scose Poise. i thought it was bleak as fuck listening to it during a long night drive out of town.

Oh man I actually find this one quite lovely too (it's the rest of Confield after Pen Expers that scares the piss out of me).

i really don't detect much UNSETTING or DISTURBING in autechre. they're more a combo of moody and incoherent.

Now I understand why you have such incomprehensible taste in ae

I don't necessarily mean that as an insult; I just think you're missing out on an awful lot of subtlety

im so sorry we don't agree about kanye west.

i also think autechre hides their tired lack of originality behind a wall of complexity.

Lentic is unsettling? For me it's more an excercise in endurance, but emotionless endurance. It masters the art of being too fast for any emotion to slip through, it holds you in a emotional vacuum and it's fucking bliss if you're in the right mindset for it.

Parhelic Triangle and Bine ARE damned unsettling

Iera has some sort of a nasty vein about it and st epreo sounds like it'a convulsing with its skin inside out. So that's a tad unsettling too :fear:

It cleanses your brain, dazzles your mind and makes it minty fresh

Also, depending on your mood it seems to have the ability to slow/speed up the flow of time

Good song

The threatening vulgur beats like some huge convulsing centipede and those bells oh those ominous bells

Like you said it's dark, in the right mood it even comes across as soothing, but its general mood seems to be at least ..... eerie.
