What to tell people the first time they hear Ae

LP5. As much as I prefer Chiastic Slide, I think LP5 is far more focused and less of a jam session. Chances are if they like LP5, they'll like Autechre in general and can warm up to the later work. Or you can just start them on Kalpol Introl, which was my own introduction and my favorite pre-Chiastic Slide work along with Vietrmx21.

all that it depends on is their musical background.

loud, beaty and reckless - arch carrier / clipper / chatter / doctrine

calm mellow and relaxed - eggshell / krib / altibizz / bike

no matter what, incunabula is a great way to translate from any sort of basic dance style (e.g. trance/house/breaks) into the more intricate stuff Ae does now.

oh and one more thing you gotta know -

Inhake 2 is loved by ALL.

Karpol Intro was my first introduction to Autechre too. I knew the very instant that song started, that Autechre was for me. If people can sit through the oddness of Karpol Intro, than perhaps they are worthy of the rest of Autechre's sounds. It helps too that Karpol slips directly into Bike which is a pretty easy chill out song to listen to it.

But yeah, most of the time when I try to play an Autechre song around normal people they think I'm joking and then they have to start mocking it, usually by making laser sounds and shit like that. It's happened practically every time.

Yo, bring someone who isn't familiar with Autechre to a live show though (especially their lastest tour) and I'm sure most people would be impressed. I've noticed most younger people these days will listen to anything that's really loud and has a lot of bumpin' bass.

dude, i'm with you. unless there's some super secret rules board for folks who have had accounts for over a year, i dunno. he's not flame baiting, or posting porn, or gore, or racial slurs, or links, or whoring out a new release, so what gives???

but then again, i'm new to this board. been reading it a while, just created an account

people like brian tregaskin on forums are so fuckin stuck up.

OH MY GOD sorry you've spent years of your life toiling away on a message board that i just happened to stumble upon now, somehow that makes you better than all of us, and posting unhelpful shit like READ THE FUCKING RULES with absolutely no further comment just lowers this entire community

You're blowing this way out of proportion, you think you're the first? Consider this an initiation and you're failing.

If you actually read the rules you'll understand what's going on

"Hello Posts" .....

i wondered if it could be considered a "hello post" but to me it just seemed like a "hey, can i get some suggestions" kinda thing. which i would think most people on this board would be all over about giving their opinions, arguing about how "so and so stinks" and all that. ah well.

What you lack in post count you make up for with common sense. Finally, someone who reads the damn rules.

Cool avatar btw.

When someone asks me what i like i just say "Autechre" and then i go on to say that Confield is the pinnacle of modern music. Then they call me out on it. I reach for my ipod and choose Bine or Parhelic Triangle. Within about 3 seconds they take of the headphones and walk away. Probably not the best approach. Suggestions?

he doesnt even say hello or hi or anything like that once in his post.

he had a legitimate question that according to the search engine, has not been discussed before.

I would definately say Amber or Tri Repetae is a good place because incunabula is a bit cheesy sounding by today's standards. Not to me, I think its awesome but you have to agree that to someone never hearing this kinda stuff before all of the claps and cheesy old-skool techno stuff.

again its not my opinion on incunabula, just what others will think.

congrats on getting the name wrong over and over, despite it being spelt correctly in the post you quoted.

you really need to read the rules

edit: both of you.

I know it's not a "hello post" but that shouldn't stop him from reading the rules (maybe you should too :undecided: )

I would tell them to listen to anything up to but not including Quaristice.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.
