Ah, that would be wonderful. That track is a strangely intense listen. I love the contrast between the glitchy metallic chaos and the beautiful slow melody. Great stuff. :-)

Personally, I would have paid $40 for an hour long album of VI Scose Poise, so I know I'm probably in the minority in my love for this piece. I really find it to be quite dynamic. About just as much as Eno's Thursday Afternoon. I mean for longform ambient pieces, this really shows quite a lot of variation. 1000x too much for the silly idea that they're fucking with anybody to hold remotely true.

eno's "thursday afternoon" was the first thing i thought of when i started this track.

yeah, at first i was like "that staticky sound seems out of place, hmm, maybe there's a problem with my flac file," but then i listened on the bleep site, and there it is. an interesting placement of sound, for some reason i seems like it should come at the end of the "loop" segment, or whatever it is.

Yeah, but "Thursday Afternoon" has far more of an engaging atmosphere than this track, imho. I find the new Ae one neither relaxing nor involving; just vaguely 'there' and slightly annoying.

I thoroughly enjoy how there is like a perlence scale going on.

man, i remember when i bought the video tape of "thursday afternoon" and i actually followed the instructions on the tape and turned my tv on its side to watch it.

I guess you just have to have a really high tolerance for this stuff to begin with. I mean, it's not exactly Eliane Radigue's Trilogie de La Mort, but I understand that to people with a very low threshold, there's no difference between Subrange and other pieces that have vastly fewer and more subtle changes. I'd venture to say there's not much here at all that's completely static. There are variations in pitch, timbre, frequency, voices, volume and background rhythms all throughout it. So for some people it's simply that any and all levels of repetition up to a certain point just doesn't work for them.

I really feel disappointed now... :unhappy: Maybe because of all that big expectations.

the real challenge will be to listen to the whole ep from start to finish in one sitting. i don't think i could do it to be honest, without losing the tenuous grip i have on my sanity. urgh, disappointment. i can only hope that i'll learn to love this monster without forcing myself to.

this song is excellent. it's unstirring, and walks the line of awkward. you can't be rushed to enjoy it, thats for sure. it reminds me of a drop of water hitting a river and the waves rippling outward. the static is the reverb on a rock... yes indeed

yes, somehow that static rock stops the track from being truly "ambient." can't read while listening to it (just throws off my concentration), but i can write to it, so i'll get some mileage out of the deal.

good track to chill to. and it has a nice mood.
