its boring trying to talk people into liking something. maybe some day she'll wake up and realize how wrong she is.

you should have played fingerbib untill she said "well that one's nice" though.

FACT: everyone in the universe loves fingerbib.

should have played Fantasia.

thats always a good one to play for girls

I have a black friend who came to france from guadeloupe 3 years ago. Originally, his music tastes beated around rap/hip-hop and local music. Then he listened to Mt St Michel Mix, hated it, then listened to it again. After having listened to Crying in your face, Stepping filter 101 or Fingerbib he totally falled in love with aphex and his music. Now, when i see him with his headphones on the head, and i ask him what he is listening to, he answer me almost everytime he is listening to some aphex production.

End of story.

Girls aren't into experimental techno/Braindance/electronic music (or whatever you want to call it) and any females you do see at any chin scratching sausage fests have normally been dragged along by their fellas.

If I'd bought a guitar instead of a groovebox all those years ago I'd got a lot more poon-tang in my time thats for damm sure!

When my bro and his band are out on the town they are always surrounded by honeys.

99.9% of girls just don't dig wierd electronic music

it's sad but true.

Nahh it's just stupid boring girls that can't enjoy electronic music.

I'd say enjoying electronic music has more to do with the open mindedness and overall artistic insight someone has, than anything else. I sure as hell wouldn't be interested in a girl who has no artistic vision whatsoever.

Your imaginary girlfriend has better hearing than you

I agree with that, the last part especially. Being open minded towards artistic stuff doesn't necessarily lead to enjoying electronic music though, but it does lead to having an original taste of music that isn't based on social shit.

You generally do find more men who you could get to "like" Aphex but that's down to them having a different social roll than girls in most cases - e.g. they like the crazy attitude, the weirdness, cause they're taught to define themselves and search for individuality rather on the outside than on the inside, visibly for others, they need to compete so they will go for aggressive tracks ("look how manly I am" - but as we know, there's whole genres to satisfy that need) or weird tracks ("look at me, I am a crazy guy, you don't get these everywhere!"). But they usually back off quickly when it gets too experimental cause they're afraid to be put in the category of people who are considered seriously strange.

With girls, their social roll suggests for them to be dreamy and sensitive (although most aren't really either, they just make themselves and others think so), so they go for the oh-so-emotional guitar crap without truly listening to it and without filtering it, merely cause it's the cliché for them to like it, but they back off when it actually does become emotional - too much effort. Then it all becomes "depressing" or it's "just wearing me down".

I believe both models are the result of too little inner security and a lack of confrontation with and awareness of oneself.

Obviously, we aren't immune to being influenced by anything but ourselves either (that would be quite a monotonous existence anyways), but it appears most people around here tend to like the music for individual reasons and that's reassuring.

According to my theory so far, the number of females who enjoy our kind of music should be about equal to the number of men, but we all know it isn't like that. The reason for that, in my opinion, would be that girls in our society do have a tougher starting position for the search for their identity. It's like in school - in first grade, most kids do their homework and it becomes a little catastrophe when you've forgotten to do it. Ten years later, a lesson where more than 70% of the class actually bothered looking at the homework is an extraordinary exception. Usually, the ones who haven't done it are guys, cause they tend to say fuck it more often and do what they want to do. In my class, girls used to see that as a compliment to themselves and giggle - lazy and stupid guys, clever girls. The truth is that it's sad for them, cause all the social success and ambition comes from not questioning the system and from compromising/repressing their will. It's hard to get rid of such a behaviour pattern. Feminists do no good either, they just see men as the evil force and need to show off that they can do better, which leads to the same result.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing girls but their social roll and the ones of them that are willing to take it. The ideal girl would probably never have done her homework but be smart as fuck and listen to Tchaikovsky as well as Autechre.... AND take it up the bum. :wink2:

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyways, I don't know whether it's better to get a guy to sort-of-like Aphex but not understand it or to get a girl to hate it. I think both are equally as deflating.
