I took my girlfriend's virginity to the sound of Mt. Saint Michel... It was great and she likes the track, calling it 'bells'.

She is at this moment telling me from bed that Aaron Funk rulz and that she will open a thread on WATMM for all WATMM's girlfriends. I have to join her in bed now, but she insists you ask your girlfirends if they would join in on such a thread! Of course she will need an account, otherwise I will have to lent her mine and there might be corruption there.

lol watmm's girlfriends

there are probably like five

This one girl jerked me off one time while playing Elephant Song from AB4. Every time she heard that elephant sound she'd move my cock up, pretending it was a trunk...

lol

Lots of people seem really close minded, even fearful of music.

most people are terrified of being honest. in america, you go to a gas station and someone pulls into the pump ahead of you, but doesn't pull forward to the second one to let you in. there's an empty pump, idle, in front of their car, and it doesn't seem to occur to them to maybe pull forward so both you and them can refill simultaneously.

this is not out of active malice. if they acknowledged your existence, they'd have to acknowledge that they're being rude asshats, treating their fellow man with a serious lack of respect -- and that's hard to deal with, so they just pretend you don't exist and drive off to KFC.

music is a 100th window, a backdoor, to emotions these sort of people repress. they are extremely uncomfortable to have these emotions pushed to the surface in the company of others -- of course they'll hate a lot of genuine music. i was almost born without the ability to lie. i just barely have it, and what i have is really more a good ability to twist the truth and direct focus where i want. it makes for awkward trips to the supermarket -- i also have trouble dating anyone that takes on a different personality in public than in private.

Those chamaleon people that switch personalities are quite annoying.

Its interesting how a normal song needs a good melody to catch you, but the lyrics must be good too. in the case of aphex the lyrical part is completely erased (in MOST cases) and still, it manages to catch the listener's ear. so instead of singing along to words you let the music guide you, it becomes stronger. it means the songs are open to interpretation, a particular tune may be happy for some and sad for others. while if it had lyrics, it would have to be 1 of the 2. so it would be nice to ask the people who dislike aphex what the music is saying to them that makes them dislike it.

In my case i love aphex and yet i dont like squarepusher at all. this gives me an idea of what people who dont like aphex feel like. no hooks to grab on to.

people need things chewed and ready, no hidden messages or undertones, keep it accesible and under 4 minutes. some artists like to twist this a bit and play with it. i find it amusing all the jock like people that like Manson's the beautiful people and dont realize the song is insulting people like them. which proves music is stronger than lyrics sometimes and people dont actually pay attention to them.

tell me about people being rude. i take the subway everyday and all manners are left at the entrance.

I still have faith in people though, im sure that the list of songs i mentioned would be accepted by a non aphex fan if presented properly. because it wouldnt be a hostile, peer pressured enviornment, in which the person would feel comfortable opening their emotions to the music and actually feeling it.

wow that sounded so hippie but its the truth, this kind of music requiers honesty, you cant pretend to like it. otherwise youll look like an idiot (i love the aphex twins, their drummer is awesome)

im sure about this, just last week i played some aphex to my music teacher. he obviously hated come to daddy but loved avril 14th. he started trying to play it after listening to it, which proves the key is in the choice of tracks.

avril 14 always touched on the parts of my brain that made me appreciate celtic folk growing up -- a "normal" instrument, piano, guitar, violin, etc. used by the performer in a way that almost speaks words to you. i can point you to 70s celtic folk vinyl that does it even better than afx.

played Vordhosbn for a girl the other day, followed by come to daddy, and windowlicker.

she said she likes it, and I sent her SAW 85-92, i should just make a mix like the one posted by Maja on page 2...

give her 26 mixes, that seems to be a pretty accessible album.

I've mentioned this - I noticed that people are more "receptive" when new music is presented to them as a sountrack to something. Given that they like that something, otherwise it has the opposite effect. It's classic conditioning. Positive stimulus gets connected with music by brain -> Music alone causes positive reaction. It's the reason people who only listen to chart-hiphop and rnb sometimes like Windowlicker. The video has tits and African Americanz (doesn't seem to matter that it's ironic). None of them would have liked the track alone. My friend (who is a good friend but who doesn't have a very advanced perception of music, yet) has the Blade-Techno-theme on his mp3player. He doesn't like techno, but he likes the film and therefore thinks the track is awesome. The music industry relies on that phenomenon a lot too.

By the way, is it generally known that, right before the techno-theme, there's Polygon Window's UT1 - dot playing? I've only noticed it last time I watched Blade...

Some tracks definitely are, but the album doesn't reflect Aphex' abilities, I think it's rubbish compared to most of his other releases... SAW 85-92 was a good choice I guess. If she does like the harsher tracks, I guess he could try drukqs too.

Just play her "Bit" from Hangable Auto Bulb on loop until she gets the hang of it.

I made her listen to:

She complained that electronic music was all 'random' and that there was 'nothing to it'. I tried to explain how awesome RDJ is but her view on RDJ wouldn't change.

What should I do?

leave that bitch asap, you really want someone like that around all the time eating up your sandwiches and disrespecting your listening time mannnnnnn, fuck differences, wayyyy overated. what she thinking trying to come up with a whole different experience in life than you?!

Embarrassing topic.

Imagine if your girlfriend started trying to force all the shit she likes on you...

Have some consideration.

Women have shit taste in everything anyway.

Exactly. That's the reason why I like electronic music. You can think whatever you want when listening to a track.

Even with 'Theme from Ernest Borgnine' ? I don't like him that much too, but this track is dope.

Not SP's best album, but still a good track. Hello everything is better
