what i meant is i kind of see mainstream pop music (or mainstream anything, for that matter) as watered down entertainment that generally lacks artistic appeal. sometimes, things break the mold, but it's never anything original. art and entertainment are definitely different things, although any act can be an art in itself. it's really just my assessment though.. i shouldn't speak in absolutes.

pretentious would mean speaking about things i don't know anything about. i would think the lack of analyzing these things and then bitching would be more so.
