One day narrative and direction of mainstream games will move forward from that of early 80s films.

this sounds way too cheesy / low quality for a rockstar game though, 'specially compared to the narrative of red dead redemption for example, or la noire.

But that's what the Max Payne games have always sounded like. They've always sounded like over the top hardcore comic books. You don't change that.

Agreed. It's exactly what it should be, overly melodramatic. There's a strong undertone of black comedy throughout the Max Payne games and I wouldn't have it any different.

And to think... I was well against Max Payne 3 before... I can't wait for it now.

When I think of Funcom I think of Anarchy Online, I wasted way too much of my life playing that.

Hey that's really ace - I love games that go all location-crazy (Eg. Nowhere in Silent Hill 1, the void section of Final Fantasy V, when cloud goes nuts in Final Fantasy VII, the erm Castle of Dreams bit of Granny's Garden) - can anyone think of other examples of games that do this

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

got access to the new DDO (dungeons and dragons online) expansion, will report back soon

recently ive been playing path of exile beta (amazing game)

This is why I have great fate in Rockstar bringing back Max Payne. Rockstar was able to pull off some weird shit in Red Dead Redemption even though it was set in the real world. Not just weird for the sake of being weird. It felt like it meant something - and it did.

For those of you who have played Red Dead Redemption, I'm talking about...

...such a fucking great game. Best game this generation.

Just finished No One Lives Forever (again). Going to get into Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory next, then maybe Cold Fear.

Eternal Darkness for the Gamecube was full of awesome weird crap like that. Such a good game. you have an insanity meter, and when it is depleted, weird stuff starts happening.

2:20 is a cool one. you go to save your game and... watch...

I'm getting slightly hyped for Diablo 3. Never tried a Diablo game before. We should get some WATMM co-op going!

The environmental sounds in this game are so immersive that if it were anybody else than Amon Tobin breaking the silence it would ruin the atmosphere. I love the fact that the music is used sparsely if you don't run around shooting everything.

I bought this game way back when it came out but didn't give it an honest try, stopped about halfway or so. I'm surprised to see it has hardly aged at all. It's really the little things, like guards taking a blind shot in the dark instead of gaining psychic powers as soon as they hear a noise. Throwing wine bottles and stuff at walls to distract is fun as hell. Most of all I enjoy the possibility to dedicate to pure non-lethal stealth, the atmosphere and all the sounds and music fit together perfectly for that.

yes please, count me the fuck in

I have a question about the Arma II DayZ mod... I don't get the full concept. Zombies are AI, but are all humans real players? It's some big MMORPG or there are servers with 64 people max? It would suck if there's only 64 humans max in an entire 200 square km map

I think that's the beauty of it. It's the apocalypse. Everyone you meet is a survivor.
