Guest Benedict Cumberbatch

brothers bloom 4/10

wow that was a really shit follow up to brick. same writer director right? it was BAD. for 1 the kid is called "bloom bloom"? and no-one mentions it? the ending was mildly interesting and i can see what they were trying for but ll the bullshit in the middle was tired. interesting idea - con artist dealing with having no identity outside of his con personas but why was it done so badly? who the fuck was diamond dog? he was in 3 scenes and then we're meant to believe the ending was orchestrated by him? maybe i missed the point.

Up in the Air - Awesome, but I like Romantic Dramas a lot.

Human Highway - Neil Young meets Devo. I think it's the worst film I've ever watched.

Willard - It was pretty good, I love Crispin Glover though.

Fantastic Mr. Fox - One of the driest kids movies I've ever watched, which is to be expected because Wes Anderson made it. Idk if any kids ever laughed in the theater, but a lot of adults did.

Human Nature - What the fuck. Michel Gondry's first film.

My movie tastes are incredibly white according to stuffwhitepeoplelike :-/

Harold and Maude - 8/10 - wonderful characters, wonderful music, wonderful cinematography...

Agreed.

Edited by Murveman

Finally got around to watching The Room. I have no idea what to rate it. It is either the worst movie ever made or one of the most ingenious comedies I have ever seen.

Sherlock Holmes - 7/10. Had its flaws but was enjoyable.

That could work. They are both sharp enough to keep up with each other.

I actually want to see one with RDowney Jr. and Adam Sandler where RDJ just railroads all of his dialogue.

Running up to a girl and punching her in the face whilst wearing a bear costume is pretty fucking funny though!

yeah funny that Wicker man remake and the Room are being talked about at the same time because Nic Cage claims that Wicker man remake was an intentional parody movie in several interviews. IS he saying this because he can't cope with the embarrassment due for ruining one of the greatest horror movies of all time? I don't know but it reeks of Tommy Wisseu's 'the room is a black comedy' comments after people tore it a new asshole and made it the new rocky horror

I tell you what, I downloaded The Room and every day I toy with whether to watch it or not... The clips I've seen are fucking hilarious, is it that magical the whole way through?

yes, but be prepared to skip through the sex scenes.

yes it is magical all the way through, and the sex scenes? they are ESSENTIAL viewing! Tommy Wisseus's alien mind version what 'sex' between 2 human beings is like is extremely strange, it resembles some sort of mid 80s soft core porno commercial for perfume. Lets just say that he uses A LOT of rose petals during intercourse

i should have said after the 1st. Actually, fuck it, you're right, the fact that he reuses the footage every time is quite the lol. And the music in the background.... oh man, listen to the words...

LOL I just read this about The Room on IMDB

  Quote
The film was shot simultaneously on 35 mm film and high-definition video. Tommy Wiseau was confused about the differences between the formats, so he used both cameras on the same mount. Wiseau purchased the cameras instead of renting them as film productions usually do.

Travolta tried to make out Battlefield Earth was deliberately shit after the fact

8/10

just watched this on comcast on demand. i remember seeing it a couple years ago around xmas time and being impressed. the plot involves a man disturbed by a childhood incident that involved him seeing santa fucking his mom. this goes on to deeply scar him. as an adult he feels the need to punish naughtiness through murder while dressed as santa clause. sounds like run of the mill exploitation schlock but this movie has more going for it than that. its well shot and perversely funny (possibly intentionally)

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas - 6/10 - I was actually really enjoying this film until the last 15 minutes or so. I appreciated its different and subtle approach to an oftentimes overly dramatic, unrealistic subject in film, the Holocaust. This all worked very well until irony stumbled in, high-chested and drunk, vomiting a bit in its mouth between words, destroying everything that was making this film so great.
