i was being pretty moderate - could definitely go 8 or over, lol. seemed a little bit familiar to me with the whole ex gangster quits-the-life and gets drawn back in for one last heist.

also loved the fact that mancini's lujon was in this - what a piece of music.

Shutter Island

8/10

I didn't read much about it here, nor saw any trailers, but it was great, even tho i saw it coming. Didn't matter. Very enjoyable. Also, this was the 1st film i saw in the theaters since feb 2008.

:ok: I recommend any of his other films too, especially 3-iron, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring, and Samaritan Girl.... he's a dark fucker but easily my favorite active director.

Micmacs à tire-larigot - quirky & sweet, exactly what you'd expect from jeunet with a few lol moments... a cross between delicatessen and amelie... only more boring. 6/10

Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 7/10

I give it high marks for sheer affect.

I never saw anything after the first Hellraiser and I saw that a long time ago so when my buddy asked hey you wanna watch Hellraiser 2 I thought eh, why not. Well I've seen my share of gory movies and this is definitely on top because of the self mutilation part. My friend and I decided to toke a little before the movie and I guess it really hit by buddy hard because during that scene he had to get up and go to the bathroom and when he came back he was white as a ghost, I don't think he puked but he might have wretched. I'll admit I was wincing though the whole scene but it didn't make me feel that sick. My friend was complaining about feeling dizzy and he said something to the effect of "man that part really fucked with me". The rest of the movie is very random and nonsensical so it loses points for that. They just don't make horror movies like this these days.

An Education - 7/10

I had no hopes for this movie but it turned out pretty decent. Also I'm a complete sucker for Carey Mulligan.

Jacobs Latter - 9/10 - A well done film. I would say perfect but for whatever reason that scene with the chemist seemed misplaced or just poorly executed to me.

Although I like Bin Jip more than 3-iron

Has anyone seen Five Easy Pieces? I'm unsure whether to get it - I hear Nicholson is great in it.. was wondering what people thought without giving away any spoilers.

there is a funny scene in that movie where he plays piano from the back of a pickup truck. this is the only scene i remember at all from this movie

It's very good. Karen Black is great in it too.

Jacob's Ladder yes, excellent film. Chemist scene was good for making sure his story was straight and not jsut something they had dreamt up in paranoia

foods in the tone of 'go to the fuckin store'

patayda chips

apple cracker thangies

carrots in brown paper bag

Yes, I understood the purpose of the scene but it was still brought about subconsciously which doesn't necessarily mean it sets the story straight. We don't know how Jacob got that information of where it came from, I'm thinking he overheard someone talking as the medic was working on him and that's how his mind interpreted it. It was his way of finally letting go of that demon to move on to the final, his son. I'm not saying the scene didn't make sense, it just seemed awkward with its placement.

Jacob's ladder fucked me up as a kid, but I've always been afraid if I revisited it I'd find all the nightmarish bits cheesy. So I've never rewatched.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

- lost cloud

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

-organized confused project

The nightmarish bits still freaked me out... they were executed in a somewhat cheesey Cronenberg-esque manner, but they still managed to stay with me as I tried to sleep last night.

Yeah, it makes you wish that Christophe Gans had consulted the director of Jacob's Ladder before trying to recreate the Silent Hill atmosphere.

Dead Zone - 7/10 - Rewatched this one after finding an HDTV rip. Classic Cronenberg fun, but nothing compared to the three films beneath it.
