seen The Watch Locker in a Sneak Preview, hated it

Public Enemies, 6/10, i'd give 7 but the some parts in the beginning sucked.

anybody here seen 'in the loop' ? its rated quite high on rotten tomatoes and i was curious about it.

theres a thread on it somewhere. loved it. go see it and get some scotish/british comedy in your life.

watched this a couple of days ago. i liked it quite a lot. recommended.

also watched crank 2 and i don't know what to think of it. it was stupid, pointless and over the top. if they constrained themselves in the first one, then in this they just went balls out with the ridicoulsness. full of cameos and mike patton behind the soundtrack.

I am excited about District 9 tomorrow..

Same here.

La Sierra (2005) 9/10

This documentary is one of the best I've seen in a while. It focuses on three young people who live in Medellin, Colombia, in an area ruled by a gang with ties to the nation's paramilitary armies. This is like the Colombian equivalent of City of God, only real.

i'm not there 8/10

i don't know a lot about dylan or the context of the film and it felt like i would have benefited from that, but overall i enjoyed it. strange film that worked well on its own, as an experimental biopic. and i don't actually like dylan's music.

I have this lying around somewhere but I'm never in the mood to watch it. Did you ever see Che, Zaphod?

I Love You, Man - 8/10 another winner from the Apatow camp, kind of a chick flick for guys.

wait I thought that was an Apatow knock off... Am I wrong? I haven't seen it, probably never will...

julie & julia 2/10

+1 because amy adams is cute. +1 because it didn't make me shit my pants. otherwise, it was the most pointless, boring, and annoying movie that i can remember seeing. streep is talented, yeah, but my girlfriend can practically do julia child as well. it's simple. and 2 hours of it, especially when it has absolutely no dramatic context, is fucking excruciating.

(500) days of summer 7/10

+1 because zooey is cute. the other 6 are because it was funny and cute endearing and offered something different than typical or indie-hip romcoms.

synecdoche, ny 9/10

-1 because hoffman's character's "happiest day" was a weak stab at pointing out the nice things in life. and because it made me read the thread about it that's on this forum, and that thread is annoying.

for an Apatow knockoff i liked 'I love you man' a whole lot better than 'Hangover' or 'role models'. i thought role models was pretty good and maybe it's unfair to call it a knockoff, i think it's just because it has Paul Rudd in it

just got back from a free showing of District 9, it was pretty good! i was impressed by the level of gore and practical blood effects. it reminded me in some small parts of old school peter jackson like dead alive or bad taste. the only time i was not feeling the movie is when i got some 'Mac & Me' vibes in the beginning part, i quickly got over it though because the main alien character looked pretty damn good. Kind of reminded me of the style of cgi on Davey Jones in the Pirates movie. 8/10

district 9 - 8/10

excellent. reminded me of children of men. keeps threatening to turn into a will smith movie but never quite does. try not to spoil yourself too hard with trailers etc.

no real gripes worth mentioning. except that WAILING ETHNIC WOMAN is now due a further kick in the crotch when i finally catch up with her

has anyone see Antichrist yet??

yes sort of. i looked away most of the later parts of the movie. one lady fainted and puked in the theatre.

i've never experienced that before. here's a picture of the end credits and the vomit.

i want to see this, but you red flagged it. i hope you just mean visually or special effects-wise and not that michael caine has a speaking role

This should be the name of the Antarctica Comp.

Brick Lane - 6.5/10

Pretty well made. The cinematography was nice. Fairly standard immigrants dealing with prejudice/trying to balance their family life and their own internal desires with the traditional family structure of their homeland. The one nice surprise was the husband not being abusive, but more of a bumbling idiot who actually reveals himself to be pretty insightful and understanding in the end.
