I only did a top four. If you insist, here is my top ten.

  1. The Shining
  2. Full Metal Jacket
  3. 2001: A Space Odyssey
  4. Dr. Strangelove
  5. Paths of Glory
  6. Barry Lyndon
  7. A Clockwork Orange
  8. The Killing
  9. Lolita
  10. Spartacus

...13. Eyes Wide Shut

I think if Tom Cruise was a normal sized man, it would have made the movie 3, maybe 4 times better.

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.

It's the sort of film I gather means a lot when interpreted through the lens of Lacanian psychoanalysis or a deep study of bourgeois married life. Personally, having suffered academically through the former and circumstantially through the latter, I rate neither of those subjects. More than anything, I was just very bored.

By the way, Wisp, I could marry you for what you wrote about Kristen Stewart. I hate that bitch with unparalleled intensity.

I tried multiple times to watch it, it looks outdated and the jokes are difficult to get (i consider myself a well informed/educated guy but i don't know enough about the cold war and its politics to get the jokes)

well, i'm glad it comes down to being boring and not that you had some beef with the critique of bourgeois married life or the object petit a or something.

personally, i found it to be pretty intriguing and fun but obviously far from one of kubrick's great works.

Not at all, that's fair, and to be honest, I haven't seen it in over 10 years. It's a film that I'm likely to glean more from as I grow older, wiser, and sadder. :)

lol, i haven't seen it in 10 years either. i'd probably watch it now and hate it for its inability to portray the bourgeois married unit with a suitably critical eye.

eyes wide shut is laughably bad. an out of touch old man who seemingly hasn't had sex in decades tried to make a moral drama about infidelity. it lacks any of the excitement or sexuality inherent to that subject matter and the fact that it exists is just sort of bizarre. why would a director known for being emotionally distant attempt to make that kind of film? and the scene where nicole kidman is pretending to be high is fucking hilarious. his worst movie by miles.

moral drama about infidelity? imo the movie was more of a romp through strange male fantasy land, i saw nothing moral in it all. hence the ending.

Nicole Kidman is a shite actor, what did you expect?

did you actually read the article? it's fairly apologetic for her. i would even say the writer likes her. also, huge  for his immediately quoting dfw.

People just WANT to like her. I don't get it. She should be kicked out of the Screen Actors guild and forced to work at a Hot Topic. Forever.

Scratch that. She should be forced to work at an Auntie Anne's pretzel stand that is directly outside of Hot Topic, so she can stare longingly in to Hot Topic, wishing she could work there.

Watched some films with the kid.

John Carter, it really felt like one of the star wars prequels, minus all the terrible politics babble and shitty kid actors, it also made me realize even more how shit the cgi in those films look. Unlike the prequels the story sort of makes sense, is focused and the pace is fast, I just couldn't get into the art style. The little earth bit at the end made me like it more, I guess I'm a sap. Completely forgettable, but fairly entertaining. 5/10.

Men in black III (3D), it's another MIB film, it had some entertaining bits. More like a fun ride than a film though, even though it tries to be a film in some places. It didn't bore me. I guess I liked it for what it is. Guilty pleasure 6/10.

Watched some films by myself.

Chronicle, it had some potential, but it never went anywhere interesting. The found footage aspect didn't work at all. First season of heroes/10.

The Awakening, if you feel like watching the others, turn of the screw, the orphanage, the devils backbone etc all over again, this is your film. Innovation/10.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

always hated eyes wide shut till the last time i watched it (about 2 + years ago) and caught bits + pieces on tv since. nowadays i like the weird atmosphere + just generally enjoy kubricks style so i like the film nowadays (mainly once it gets past the kidman being stoned part) .

also dont think the film is meant to be sexy or even about infidelity. it seems to be more about how tom cruise thinks hes some big shot doctor guy who knows "all the best people" + gets invited to their parties but his wifes confession causes him to go on a journey where he realises he dosent actually know anything and he isnt getting invited or isnt wanted at the real party. so the point of the movie basically is tom cruise is a massive bellend. but overall i just like kubricks style, he could have made a movie about a womens wheelchair volleyball team and i probably would have ended up liking it eventually

prometheus 3d - 6.1111113333/10

So, I went to the movies tonight thinking Prometheus had been released....but it hadn't. Only in the UK, apparently. Wtf is up with that? Since when do we not come first? America comes first. All the time. ME ME ME.

Any how, my girlfriend and I decided to see "Snow White & The Huntsman". I hate Kristen Stewart, and Thor is an oaf...but whatever. The movie, stylistically was amazing. Really great atmosphere, awesome fx. Also, I thought how the story was approached was pretty good, for what it was. It definitely played more to the LOTR style of fantasy film. I think my favorite bits were the first half, and most of the scenes with the Dwarves (really the best acting in the film), and Charlize Theron's bits (even though she has a few facepalm moments...her dialogue sounded a bit Diablo 3 at times[ and by that I mean the Skeleton King in D3. "You will NEVER defeat me!!!"] ). In all honesty, I thought this could have been a very memorable film for the genre. The costumes, sets, and most of the cgi sequences were pretty awesome. But....

Kristen Stewart is just terrible. I got the impression that the director didn't want to give her any lines at all, and the only reason she was cast in this was role due to the success of the Twilight series. In fact, she made Thor look like an proper thespian. She made the same stupid fucking face through out the entire movie. Her reaction to every thing is to breath heavy, and open and close her mouth a few times. Terrible. I think she has aspergers or something, and she constantly looks like she is trying to smell her own farts. And she has the body of a 10 year old boy.

I have no idea what this film is or who these people are and the title sounds like the last film in the cinema that I would ever go to see but this review makes me want to watch it.

Become a witness to true horror.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.
