This has been discussed before; while I like Clark's music (his latest EP is great), I don't feel he has the musical 'history' behind him, nor do I feel he's made such a significant contribution to electronic music in terms of advancing the genre.

he's done good things with texture.

lol

It's true though, he's done good things with texture.

I say rid of all sub-forums... I'd personally visit this site more if I didn't have to navigate so much to access different topics.

Though I kind of do enjoy all the filler that gets thrown around here... so maybe don't fix what aint broken.

joyrex should offer a 'paid subforum' upgrade. think of the possibilities

What would be the point/purpose of that?

+ global goon

Criteria: pre-2k releases, flatmate of RDJ at some point, early IDM/braindance, no one would visit it much. Not advocating it, but there's an argument there. Maybe a rephlex etc. sub-forum as well. Besides that, nothing else makes much sense.

Jeez, I asked for Clark subforum like 3 years ago. It's not going to happen.

Venetian Snares would get more love anyway.

I'm still for a Merzbow sub forum.

(No matter what you actually think of his music composition alone) Clark's production techniques are so unbelievably high quality to the point it's nearly unfathomable in technical definition and fluency that you have to have major respect for this man. (long story short)

i don't know if I'd put it that way.

his sound doesn't reach some kind of pinnacle technical achievement, he is just so far removed in his production style that his music seems alien when compared to the closest equivalent. like he went the long long way round to make something that people usually just set up a synths, effects and beats to make.

to be honest though, I don't want to know how he does what he does. I don't want that spoilt for me.
