Solo Strike, just thought you might be interested to know I got an ID for the mysterious electro track at the start of the ATP set, it's called Break Dancer, from this - http://www.discogs.com/release/51973

What's worse is that I had the LP version of it sitting in my huge unsorted music dir since the 7th of July this year according to the last modified date.

Damn, I really need to get my lazy arse round to sorting that stuff more often.

Only 3 more IDs for part one until the tracklist is complete!

Good skills that man!

Ok I'll rename mine to 05.

Space Coyote, I notice you've included the tracklist with your version, the revised one is as follows (I would have edited my original post rather than spamming this again, but since you can't do that...):

Thank you kindly for the heads up. I've updated my files accordingly :)

I'm guessing I'm more likely to catch the attention of potentially interested people in these threads, so I'm going to spam each one with a link to the thread about my project, which is a wiki for live performances: LiveSpotting thread.

The collective present during 5H of was sharpened on the experimental concept 6000°, with mix of Aphex Twin but also Ovuca, DMX Crew, Mike Dred,…

I was present at this festival, what a to remember! The Mix of DMX Crew were fabulous there this day, I remember part of completely removed from rim table tennis sound which had done everything to explode on the dancefloor!

When in Aphex Twin, faithful to its reputation, it balanced large sound which breaks the ears at the beginning of set to make flee those which had come just to see it and not to listen to it, but after it was mythical!

Alex, the track from the ATP set has already been IDed in my tracklist, it's Skeptic - Tear. Incidentally I'm pretty sure the vocals that they've cut up are from a Michael Jackson tune :).

No idea on that tune in the Triple J set, it's absolutely killer though, wouldn't mind knowing what it is.

What's the most hardcore fuck you upside the head set that we posted?

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

Does anyone have a tracklist from Richard's gig at Melt! 2006 ? The set sounds unbelievable at some points and would really like to see the names behind that all. Is it all by RDJ ?

Forgive me my ignorance, but i had a separation with RDJs music for last 3-4 years, and know most only his older works :)

Thanks in advance

AFTER THE 1ST JANUARY, i'll give u this live at melt in 2006 in flac files... peace!

Guest tomaswoj

A_S_T: Thanks for a fast reply! Does it mean, that there is a finer quality recording of that set ? ( i mean, a bit better than listed in the beginning of that thread among all other gigs?) Or that U will remaster it ? Anyway thanks in advance :)

not remasterised, but when u got flac files u convert in wave files & burn them in cd... what does mean it? ---> it means .flac, .wav, .ape, etc. r lossless files then .mp3, .mp4, some .wma, etc. r lossy compression format...

FLAC means Free Lossless Audio Codec, c on : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FLAC & mp3 : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3

the lossless sounds better than lossy compression format, bcause there is not compression, it means lossless sounds like an original cd... (not like a vinyl, bcause it is analogic, not numeric)

also, i don't like mp3, i don't listen them in mp3 (live melt 2006) but i can confirm u this live i got is great! ;-)

soon, peace & b wild! :braindance:

AST, if you bought a pile of bootlegs on CD with an unsourced lineage, the chance of them having gone through a lossy format along the way is EXTREMELY high, in fact i'd almost garauntee 90%+ of the bootlegs have gone through a lossy format.

Yeah... which means if you re-encode it to MP3 again you lose even more quality from the files! I would suspect a lot of the newer files are taped and placed straight on the net though, bootlegs CD's seem to of died out a lot thanks to broadband, etc... I used to be a massive tape trader geek back when I was a teenager, the amount of people who get scarily into the whole source/generation thing is crazy.

i don't think these flac files were firstly in mp3, & i know these flac files weren't from mp3... but i'm agree with u 4 some point... just i listen them each time i got them...

Guest tomaswoj

A_S_T: more or less i know what is the FLAC file format :) (probably dont know half of what any of U knows about FLACs :)) but still, if we get lo-fi garbage on input, we may encode it with FLAC, and still get a garbage on output (in terms of sound quality).

So to be more precise, apart from media format, is your recording of Aphex @ Melt of better audible quality than the one listed in the very first post in this topic ? :)

And does anyone has a tracklist from that gig ? Im so amazed with some moments of this set, and would like actually know if it was Aphex stuff all the time, or he was just playing someone else shit ? Or he was mixing a lot of someone else shit ? :)

Cheers

tomaswoj

PS. still can wait to here what U have :) Politely waiting for 1st Jan2007.

this is a great question, but i mean who really knows? some recordings have obvious differences in sound quality while others are hard to tell, for example if one was in high bit rate mp3 and another flac. if anyone knows of a program to test this PLEASE let me know, since we have a well developed archive of live recordings (and i mean REALLY well developed) it would be nice to analyze what we have so we can make this info readily available when Joyboy finally decides to put the live section in html (which he swears is going to happen).
