Autechre Synchronized Ae Album Cycle

chiastic slide, cichli suite and envane? sounds like a term paper to me.

i have never heard any autechre except at friends places, on youtube and the 3 tracks (peel session) ive got on my hdd. if it'd be an album a week or so i'd be totally down for that

If anyone on here is actually wondering whether or not they can listen to an album and 2 ep's in a weeks time, seriously? its like absolute tops 2.5 hours out of your probably not very busy schedule

I think EP7 and LP5 should be seperate weeks.

I agree though, EP7 needs to be its own week and LP5 also as they don't really have any continuity like the other LP/EP combos do

Week two: Amber/Garbage

Week three: Tri Repetae/Anvil Vapre/Peel Sessions 1

Week six: EP7/Peel Session 2

Week seven: Confield

Stretch this out to 10 weeks and it makes a bit more sense, plus it's a nice round number. We can certainly count them, but I got rid of We R Are Why and Quadrange as they don't really fit in the main group of LP/EPs. Plus the inclusion of Quadrange would be pretty overkill for week 10. That's like 5 hours of material altogether right?

Garbage should stay with Amber as it is material that was rejected for Amber, hence the title. Peel Session 1 was recorded right around the time of Tri Rep and stylistically fits. Even though Cichlisuite was reworked versions of Cichli, it was stylistically the blueprint for LP5 and should be included with that LP in my opinion. Peel Session 2 was recorded around the same time as EP7 if live shows are anything to go by and there are similarities in sound and structure. Confield stands alone. Certainly open to suggestions but I think this works a bit better.

I suggest a bonus week for Gescom stuff.

You know, I think this list works a lot better. Though during week ten, maybe we could discuss quadrange, but not make it a requirement to listen to it all the way through.

alright that's the list then boys. Autechre Synchronized Listening Experiment begins today, hope all goes well, I'll make thread 1 now.

And yeah we should do the bonus week for Gescom afterwards but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I think good form for this would be to make some big posts listing each track on the album and your impressions. Like those best of/worst of threads only we'll do each track throughout the experiment.

Once we get to thursday/friday, people should start throwing down those posts in the week 1 thread. Just break all the albums down and list what tracks you like, what tracks you don't like and why. If you remember anything from this forum about Ae and personal tastes, you'll know that most people disagree about which ones are great/awful so with this whole marathon thing going we can kinda get a good idea for which tracks are liked or not.

Also, seeing that 5 other members really dig a track you hate can often force you to give it a harder try and in turn end up really appreciating it. Some of their best pieces are the ones that are very difficult and take much time and effort to really appreciate.
