I remember some guy playing druqks at a house party, and that's probably the only time I've met somebody who "understands his genius".

He was a pretty shitty hipster guy but we had a good talk.

My closest friends are into electronica but don't appreciate aphex as much, they think it's too erratic. But analord tracks, flim and avril 14th work.

I remember once when me and my best mate did E in a park and played most of analord on my portable speaker and it was just magic.

I am a teacher and I play it to my classes at school. I like playing the scary ones on SAWII to the year 7s. Also, the Christmas quiz has several rounds where I play them a series of tracks and they have to say which one matches the mangled track title they have been given and why. They sometimes give each other nervous glances due to the impenetrable nature of the task, but usually they earnestly try to work out which one it is. I also did a lesson starter on Wednesday, delivered in a fiercely deadpan style indicative of high expectations, where each pupil had to think of two adjectives beginning with their alphabetically allocated letter to complete the sentence written on the board: Squarepusher's cat is _______ but Aphex Twin's jumper is __________. Wasteful and wobbly was my favourite.

Whoa, just whoa.

I was moving some servers into a datacenter recently and because it was a Saturday there wasn't too many people about, so I had a mix playing loud from my phone (I know blasphemy not full experience WAHH WAHH FUCK OFF) and the first tune was Aphex. I was having trouble getting through a palm scanner and a dude walked over to me and asked if that was Aphex playing. A discussion kicked off while the door was open and he was saying he loves Aphex and Squarepusher etc. I fancied him instantly, the conversation went on but I had to close the door because a silent alarm goes off after thirty seconds. I watched him longingly through the window of the door as he boarded a train that crashed into a volcano.

This is like the time I met two Tuss fans at one party and embarassingly killed them both with my boner.

I told this one girl I liked Aphex Twin and she was like "I love them!"

another great one was on my friend's ipod: "Aphex Twins".

Fuck the world.

I played some Aphex to my little sister (8), and she doesn't like his music. So whenever I play anything she assumes is Aphex, she's like "Ugh, turn it off!" But one morning I was ripping Hello Everything by Squarepusher onto my Xbox 360, played it for her, and she liked it somewhat.

My brother never listens to any Aphex as far as I know. He has my whole collection on his iPod (or at least some of it). But once we listened to ICBYD in his car, and when Ventolin came on we turned it up really loud with the door closed for some reason...

I once sent my friend the Windowlicker video, and he didn't want to watch it because it is fucked up. But one day some time later, out of the blue, he said he listened to some Aphex on Youtube, and wanted to borrow some of my stuff. I did, and he also watched some of his videos (or at least Windowlicker). I feel good when I get him into things that I like.

I've also had several conversations about Aphex in record stores. I remember the first time I walked in to a particular local record shop. I must have been 14. I remember looking at the electronic music section and completely freaking out with the selection. I didn't have any money on me at the time, so I came back that night to make some purchases. When I walk in, the guy behind the counter is playing One Word Extinguisher by Prefuse 73! Next time I come in some other guy is playing SAW 85-92. I'm crapping my pants. After browsing the large and impressive electronic section, I brought up my pick to the counter. I had selected Clarence Park by Chris Clark, and the guy looks up at me, seemingly completely shocked and says "...this is a really good record man!" and starts talking to me about Clark and his other albums, etc. It's then I knew that this record shop was the fucking shit. Since then I've had countless conversations about Warp artists in there. Those guys don't work there anymore, but there are still some cool people.

At another record store down the street from this one, the guy working there was playing The Shimmering Hour by Wisp! This is around the time when it was released. It was very exciting to hear Wisp in my local shop(!) and I had a good convo with the dude at the counter about music.

I converted a friend of my recently. He's now a full blown Aphex head. He was really into Nine Inch Nails and other more legitimate industrial music, and after getting familiar enough with his taste, I decided to play him Drukqs. We sat down and just listened to the entire first disc. His face face was scrunched up in the most confused way, like he was trying to figure out a puzzle. He kept giving sighs of amazement and confusion. He was concentrating so hard, and kept making expressions like he was being slapped in the face. He would comment on little details, and shit so I knew he was really hearing it. While we were listening to Vordhosbn, and the reverb clap hit he exclaimed "ARGH JUST ON THE ONE SOUND!" By the time we had reached the end of Mt. Saint Michel Mix + St. Michaels Mount, we both were leaning back with our eyes closed. Right after the end lets up, he looked over at me and whipped a tear from his eye. I knew that he got it. Now hes really into Autechre, Clark, and everyone else.

I've also gotten a number of comments due to my Aphex shirt... which I haven't been able to find for an uncomfortably long amount of time.
