Also, I'm so sorry for me and to everyone else but that Lex-Electric Co. collaboration is wank. I know there are some "sweet" moments of lushed out reverb, gorgeous piano lines, a few <100 Hz bass rumbles and a few IDM BBZZZZZTS for good measure. But then it's like Lennon and Harrison on too much acid and floating down the wrong stream. I would buy it and think--"nice" or "pat" would be a better word and then it would be shelved. Sorry, don't mean to be contrary. That's what happens with extremely talented musicians a lot...they can't stand the shit that the people want to hear; you know, we want 73 minutes of "Drowning Cricket Quartet" "LEXAUNCULPT_-_TOUR_CDR_06" etc. but you can see now how he could be "done" with that. He's getting a decent salary because CA education pays well with good benefits and teaching at the collegiate level, even part-time, can mean an extra $1,500-2,000 a semester. Things change.

I read a couple reviews to get an initial impression. The impression I got was that it was "avant-rock," which meant very little to me since I have no idea how that would sound. When I heard it, I was pleasantly surprised from what I thought it was going to be. I could tell that it had Lexaunculpt in it from the bzzts, I had no clue what Electric Company sounded like and therefore have no clue who is singing. It's a really slow album filled with really nice piano melodies, mostly. Not exactly my favorite thing ever, but most definitely one of the most different things I've heard in awhile, which I consider good as it broke any preconceptions I had of it and it made me appreciate and listen to something I'd normally probably not even give a chance.

It's basically a really pretty, slow, weird album. I think you described it really well with "it's like Lennon and Harrison on too much acid and floating down the wrong stream."
