EMS Synthi (any of them basically)

Nice synth. Years ago (around 1993) I drove down to EMS in Cornwall with a mate who was picking up a Synthi A & also a VCS3. I think the pair cost him about £3000 at the time. We could hardly get a sound out of it because we didn't know what the hell we were doing back then. But I think my mate eventually got his head around although he was mainly using it to process sounds from his 808. What a waste! Anyway, one day, during a big session on ketamine & acid, he decided to paint his room & everything in it turqoise (it was his favourite colour). He'd bought the paint to do just the walls but got a bit carried away. I'd never seen a turqoise coloured SL1210 before. Sadly the VCS3 didn't escape either. What a fucking idiot!!

I had a crush on the Virus for years.

Finally I saved up enough money to buy a Virus C... the month I ordered it, they were discontinued.

I had to end up waiting over 2 years but they finally sent me a Virus TI Polar.

So I kinda already own my fetish gear.

this is mine..

it's an aries modular. looks a bit old school, but i got to use one of these for a while (sans the keyboard) and you could seriously get some amazingly crisp and lush sounds out of it.

since my studio mixer just died, i'd be happy with a new mixer as well :emotawesomepm9:

oh and a big desk with one of them mixdown buttons

I need to make a list of competitively priced stuff I'm comparing and thinking of buying for live and studio work in the next year (so I'm just gonna do it in here for yall too nitpick and make cruel enlightening statements about)

Korg KP3 Kaoss Pad Dynamic Effects Sampler ($321)

Korg PadKontrol USB Drum Pad Studio Controller ($139)

Akai MPK25 25-key Keyboard Controller with MPC Pads

KRK VXT8 Active Studio Monitor - 8 Inch, 180 Watts ($599)((for just 1 in the pair :( )) (((but people make it sound like these monitors are more than worth 12 hundred)))

41rlOOtJDYL._SL500_AA280_.jpg41rlOOtJDYL._SL500_AA280_.jpg

need a good live mixer and wireless ear bud monitoring for eventually 4 kids and some other things, need to research the possibilities of that and what I else we might need further

So you've all probably heard of the Fenix Modular by Synton. Anyway they're currently working on a new version, a modular and a sequencer. A guy I know got one of the prototypes to test (he lives in Holland where Synton are based) and so far it sounds great. So that's my current ultimate fetish piece of gear. That and an ARP 2600. And a Neve mixing desk.

I love my PK, especially now that I'm using it with NativeKontrol, really opens up the possibilities in Ableton, especially for live use. I've been looking at the KP3 as well, but I doubt I'll get one any time soon. I would like a set of monitors, but don't have the money and even if I did I would probably spend it elsewhere. The gear-lust has certainly grabbed me as of late though

edit: I've never seen the black PK is that a newer model? I'm actually in the works of painting mine black right now.

yeh the black PK is new, I think its supposed to cost like 150 dollars more or something lol

really the biggest thing I really really want is post $1000 monitors, so im not mixing blind with unbalanced peaks and valleys in my frequency range in mixing. Would be sooo fucking bad ass too have monitors that didn't lie to me at all. cant decide between those KRKs and a few other monitors

I think the price I put down right there for the black PK was actually the price for the white PK

Arp 2600 is a special, special machine =D

What'd you pay if you don't mind me asking. Their prices fluctuate in a pretty WIDE range.

You get it off teh bay or local?

cragis list purchase, guy was listing it for about $700 less than going ebay price and also seemed interested in a trade. I offered him a shit load of stuff i had but in the end he was only interested in the Doepfer Maq16 (not blue led version) and my Analogue solutions 808 emulation eurorack modules. Fortunately he made a mistake and thought my Maq16 was worth $900 used, i lucked the fuck out on this arp2600 purchase. I had to snatch it even though i spent almost all the money i have saved up for the year. The working condition of it is also perfect, fully calibrated and nothing scratchy.

score! im jealous as fook...

check out dave morley/andrea parker (try 'ballbreaker' if you dont know it first) if you want to hear what these babies are capable of. one of my favourite synths (that i can identify)for sheer powerful fuck'dup sounds....

Yeah you got the good filter too Awepittance. Total score! I've always wanted to buy one, and then 5 more and strip em, and put em inside the chassis for a nice 6 voice 2600 :emotawesomepm9:

Course that'd be somewhere in the ballpark of 20k and when you're talking that much there's actual Vintage Polys about. Also would likely become a pain trying to track down the exact same version number so voices would match. Still though, 2600 is special. It'd be worth it if I had that kind of money to spend on synths.

i still want one of those REACTIVE or REACTUAL (how to spell?) setups -- what with the widgets on the table and cameras and projectors.

a tad further beyond current reality, i want a brain/computer interface.
