WATMM, help me get to play at Bloc Weekend!

Recommended Posts

Bloc weekend this year are running a competition to win an hours slot at this years festival. I've got a mix up in order to enter, and I was hoping to enlist some of you lot to bump me up the ranks in terms of plays, etc. Would be an absolutely amazing opportunity to play on that system with such a good line up, and if I win, I'll present Autechre with batcock t-shirts backstage.

Mix is here -

Tracklisting -

Sebastian Tellier - L'Amour Et La Violence (Floating Points Remix)

Headhunter - Prototype (Modeselektor's Broken Handbrake Remix)

Untold - Palamino

Drexciya - Digital Tsunami

Rustie - Throw Some D's (Click Clack)

12th Planet - 68

Moves - All Skate

Tipper - What's Heavy

Boxcutter - Mya Rave v2

Squarepusher - My Red Hot Car

Clark - Penultimate Persian

Give it a click, see what you think, it's a lot of newer stuff mixed with some old Warp classics. Some WATMM favourites in there. Cheers!

i think you've unwittingly sealed your doom by revealing the existence of said competition to a forum of music makers... fail

Indeed. I'm hoping however, that most of them will be too busy masturbating in a basement in Canada or something to worry about entering

Me. vs. Th'idiot vs Melting Universe.

It's on. :shuriken:

There's still plenty of gems on the lineup, Flying Lotus just got added and they are supposed to be adding loads more techno... I think it's just difficult to beat last years lineup as that was incredibly strong. Also game on you two, post up links if you enter! WATMM represent yo

You grumpy old fuck - thats one of the best lineups for a gig I've ever seen. I just counted and there's 15 acts there I would pay to see separately. 16 if you count JME and Skepta as 2.

Stop wanking over your 1991 house 12"s and listen to some new music - and stop telling grime and dubstep to get off your lawn

True, plus Bloc is one of the freshest sites for a festival... proper lush, Pizza Hut buffet and flumes will cure ANY hangover. This is a fact. Last year was really good fun

15 acts over a 3 day festival isn't AMAZING is it?

there is some great music there and BLOC is easily the best festival of the year but there is way WAY WAY too much dubstep and grime for my liking. also SALT n PEPA what?

i dont understand how you can have AFX and AE headlining for 2 years and then out of nowhere SALT n PEPA

what are they gpnna do ? 2 hrs of PUSH IT REAL GOOD?

also Grandmaste Flash...??? yeah great he's a legend etc... so was Afrika Bambaataa and look at him now lol

BLOC made their name inthis town by puting on excellent parties with quality technoes and electroes

i could easily list 15 people on the line up who i'd enjoy without question but that line up is actually shit compared to every other BLOC weekender

the short of it is... is it worth spending 400 quid or more on?

i don't think so

Are you really too po faced to have a fucking laugh to Salt N Pepa? I assume they will perform their other great hits Let's Talk About Sex and Gritty Up as well.

I've seen Bambaata and he is sad, but I don't see how that automatically makes every other old school hip hop act sad.

Yes there is alot of dubstep and grime, but all of it will happen in a different tent while you are in the tent with the electro so who cares.

How much e do you need to take before you actually want to hear 3 days of non-stop techno anyway?

Also Ellen Allien and Lindstrom ffs

not po faced at all... more just slackjawed in disbelief

i just find it peculiar that anyone would think... yeah let's get salt n pepa to headline....

like i said... there are a load of acts on the bill that i would like to see but it costs Hundreds of pounds once you've covered ticket, travel, drink and drugs etc.... and the prospect of seeing grandmaster flash in no way swings me towards going. i've seen him... he played some ok hip hop tunes... it was.... ok....etc

Yeah festivals are well expensive these days... like a little holiday though isn't it. I'm thinking of doing Outlook in Croatia this year, it's pretty much all dub/dubstep, but the best of those artists play, tickets are £60 if you get them early and it looks like this -
