I pray they don't dare do a 'reimagining' of this movie or a 'reboot' or 'sequel'. It's truly one of the few movies that is fine as it is and doesn't need anything more.

Unlike Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Transformers, Terminator etc which all desperately needed bringing into the 21st century

I always thought the very ending of the Director's Cut (etc.) and the cut to the end title score is one of the most powerful finales I've seen and heard. One film I'd love to watch on the big screen (didn't make the theatrical run in 1982, had to wait til the VHS came out).

It's personally my all-time favourite movie.

Watching it on Blu-Ray is fucking amazing. And I saw it in theatres in 1982 during it's theatrical run.

What's it like watching blu-rays of old '80s movies? You know, cuz their cameras and crap were all old and stuffs.

Well, the Blu-Ray version has been digitally cleaned up and the film restored to it's original pristine beauty (one of the things I hated about the DVD transfer - it was so poor), but to say the cameras were crappy back then is simply not true - the resolution of film is still way higher than 1080P, and if done right, film-to-digital transfers can bring out more from analogue film than say film-to-videotape ever did.

that is the truth.. i recently got 2001 on Blu-Ray and was expecting just an upscaled look to it all. it's actually amazingly clear, like it was filmed that way,, i was pretty surprised to find there isn't one blurry line or jagged edge from a movie made in 1968 - even though it was probably the pinnacle in filming tech. of the time.

Well, to be fair, those movies were always meant to have sequels - now, whether you think those sequels (prequels) were any good or not is another matter...

Some day, some shit producer will remake this film, and ruin it.

And they'll be talking about how they improved it, and how it looks better, because in those days they couldn't really do stuff. And that photo enlarging scene is gonna be so much cooler and everything. Makes me a bad person just thinking about it.

www.petergaber.com is where I keep my paintings. I used to have a kinky tumblr, but it exploded.

Duncan Jones, the guy who directed Moon, has said here that he's working on a Blade Runner -esque film.

Considering the fact that Moon takes inspiration from quite a few iconic films without soullessly ripping them to pieces, i think Duncan Jones shows some promise.

i lol every time i see the ATARI advertisement in the movie trying to look all futuristic and bad ass, little did they know how hard Atari would fail in the future and kind of become a joke among the computer/video game community

I also felt Moon was heavily inspired by Primer, even down to the musical score. has Duncan Jones talked about how primer was a big influence on him or does he keep this quiet?

A remake of blade runner is like a remake of the wheel, In my view you cant make a wheel a better shape than when it was first invented.

that would be awesome if they somehow were able to rise from the ashes of being bought by failing company Midway right before Midway filed for bankruptcy

Anyone ever read any of the sequel novels? I believe they build on both the film and the PKD novel. From what I've read about them they don't sound too hot.
