it's maybe half a disc too long imo. there's some completely awesome ambient shit on there ('dr. tyrell's owl' is of eno quality) and some really nice cinematic music too ('dr. tyrell's death' is excellent). but there's quite a bit of fluff as well. thank christ we're past the point where the only official release was a cover of select tracks by the 'american philharmonic orchestra' or summat.

the new music disc is a bit cheesy. but you would expect that for later vangelis.

it has 80s softporn cheesy alto sax all over it, which i have a big problem getting over.

now get off my lawn

I'm here to post my love for blade runner.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

so, this girl I am seeing... blade runner is one of her favorite movies of all time.

My friend's girlfriend was Pris for halloween.

Both me and my fiance finally watched it together for the first time a few years ago, and we loved it. Kinda one of those films I knew a lot about but never seen when I was younger. Can't stand the cut where it ends w/ them in the countryside though.

Does anyone know where I can find loads of high resolution Blade Runner concept art? I watched the making of a couple of months ago from that Blade Runner DVD-box and it seems they made loads of high quality concept art.

i don't know exactly. i'm sure there is a proper book or proper prints that can be acquired through searchable sources. let me know if you find anything. (looks like the bottom of this piece has a clue on it.) :fear:

So what's the general consensus on WATMM - with or without the Harrison Ford voiceover?

I also saw BR when it first ran in theaters, with the voiceover - and I guess since that was my first impression it is the way I prefer it.

definitely without, and i am vehemently against the voiceover. so much so that after Guilermo Del Toro admitted that he prefers the theatrical cut, i have vowed never to watch any of his films. yes, i am a prick

  Quote
IMDb: Harrison Ford has branded his role playing a futuristic cop in Blade Runner "a f**king nightmare." The actor admits he was initially attracted to the role as Rick Deckard in the 1982 movie, but was not keen on the voiceover narrations. Ford claims director Ridley Scott agreed to remove them for the script - but was disappointed when the spoken words made the film's final cut. He says, "When we started shooting it had been tacitly agreed that the version of the film that we had agreed upon was the version without voiceover narration. It was a f**king nightmare. I thought that the film had worked without the narration. But now I was stuck re-creating that narration. And I was obliged to do the voiceovers for people that did not represent the director's interests." »

The blu ray final cut is one of the best looking transfers I've seen yet, although they did not seem to be able to resist the DNR unfortunately in a few scenes.

Odd blade runner story...

It was the last night in my old house, and amidst all the packing and annoyance me and a friend of mine relaxed on the couches and watched bladerunner. The next day as I'm moving furniture into house, I noticed an origami swan on the front steps, and inside the house was an origami frog made from green foil. It was a sign. My friend commented "he say yoo brade runnah?".

This is my 35th year on Planet Earth. I have never seen Bladerunner. I guess I better take a look LoL.

Bladerunner to you is what Apocalypse Now (original not the gay redux version) is to me.

Somehow this film has always passed me by. Seen the first 45 minutes about 4 times then on all occassions somebody has either knocked at the door or something has happened to distract me.

I promise you I will get in on dvd, turn off all communication devices, take the batteries out the doorbell, chain the front gate shut and sit down and watch.
