I love the guitars in the new song

fixt

edit:actually sounds like meshuggah's guitars.

... Theres a lot of guitarists in the metal world right now ripping Meshuggah's style off right now but Meshuggah's mega low tuning with ultra kewl rhythmic groove's is kind of like a new dynamic in insanity to be fair. I was actually having a convo a few weeks ago about funny it is how many guitarists in metal right now are just completely regurgitating Meshuggah but no seems to think its a plagiarism but somehow its not frowned upon at all really.

it's pretty much become commonplace amongst all genres to regurgitate. some bands, like the deftones, are always gonna keep me coming back for more no matter how much they bite off something fresh like meshuggah. on the other hand, sometimes it doesn't work too well. have you heard the new mastodon escape plan song?

conclusion track is kinda epic, that and prince are the most memorable so far

This Place is Death, something I doubt anyone would actually use is a conversation (mildly nonsensical?)

I love the guitars in the new song, and the vocals aren't bad either. Sounds sick as fuck and generally like awesome.

I wish I felt the same way, I was a huge deftones fan. Saw them live more times than I care to admit.

Do you analyze every band's or artist's track names for real world application?

I understand names have little clout when it comes to the quality of the song, I guess I was expecting something different?

maybe that's the point?

seriously how do the drums not sound even close as good as there last two records? how the fuck did terry date drop the ball....

Terry Date is rubbish. He ruined The Fall of Troy for me and alot of other people.

it very much sounds like it is mastered, its very consistent and sounds pretty compressed, but even its not the actual sounds of the drums won't change a lot by being mastered. the bass drum boomph punch and snare crash thwack crush was religious on their last two records for the most part, sounds like they didn't mess around with triggering, different drumkits and experimentation. just sounds like the same snare and bass drum on all the whole album and didn't have the ambition or desire to spend the time making the drums as impressive and creative as before.

they said they made this record pretty fast, where I know self titled, white pony and SNW were very long slow made records were they sitting a lot of the time and the engineers and producers probably had a lot more time to experiment.

Apparantly its recorded from a stream, but its supposed to be the final version.

hmmm, hopefully it packs quite a bigger punch with a more direct rip of it. the cymbals seemed a lil over processed crunched for a 320k rip. either way its not gonna sound as creatively masterful as I want it to.

but yup, its got some good moments, not too uber ultra disappointed.
