Moderat live at Glade last year was the best thing i've seen in a long, long time. Massive, cinematic sounding strings, loud as fuck bass and intense visuals. Touring again this year apparently, im there.

...not a distorted formant filtered wobble in sight!

sure, but cheesy garage stabs and 909 hi hats all over the place in my mind are just as cringe worthy as generic bass wobbles .

awesome track, my copy of 3 eps is arriving soon, it will be the first time i give Shackelton a proper listen. He's playing with Kush Arora and Eskmo here in a couple weeks, can't fuckin wait.

i cant be arsed listening to shackleton on cd's at home, its too dull, but i have to admit live its a serious experience. the bass is intense.

Garage is making a proper comeback though... there was always a lot more swing and funk in those old tunes than the standard "kick on first, snare on third" dubstep drum patterns. Depends which cliche you prefer I suppose ;) The whole garage thing is certainly being recontextualised at the moment, I get the feeling it was always a bit of a dirty word for electronic music fans who came from the whole Aphex/Warp mid-nineties thing.

Yeah I found Three EPs pretty dull, that's all I've heard from him.

I like garage house. What exactly is 'garage' all by its lonesome?

it's probably only a dirty word for british music fans, most people in the US don't even know what garage is

You guys had the whole US garage thing though, correct? Todd Edwards and all that? Perhaps that made a lot more impact over here than it did there.

dubsteps kind of been and gone, its mostly now in the same state that d&b arrived at around 1998 era (the new stuffs only really enjoyed by pill monching 30 yr olds that say "yes brav"). its a shame its got so stale so quickly, just got overkilled by too many producers all sticking to the basics. the stuff thats been happening on the edge of dubstep are way more interesting. all those "satellite genres" or whatever pitchfork likes to call them.

purple, funky, wonky pfff

This man knows what's going on! Mosca is GREAT, definately check his 12" on Night Slugs. It's got two killer tracks on, Square One, and another tune called Nike that starts off like fucked hip hop and slowly mutates into broken house styles. Took a while for me to get, but trust me, he's really good

I'm honestly relishing in this divisive property of dubstep. If it gets IDM fops to stop holding hands on account of how one likes Burial and one likes Borgore it's all good. Dubstep is good outing material for snobs.

p.s. troon, please, PLEASE stop saying "genera".
