The J-Dilla air-raid siren

Robin Guthrie's guitar sound

The wall-of-guitar-noise sound that crops up on Corduroy by The Wedding Present

The synth noise in A Day In The Life by Black Riot - used in tons of old rave tracks but still ace

VSnares' gabba kicks

The stuka samples in Primal Scream's Stuka

The stabby synths in Caustic Window's R2D2

The drums on pretty much every Shellac record

The ludicrously deep and distorted bass on LFO's LFO (Remix)

The distorted sustain on Carcass' Genital Grinder

The drum sounds on the original Temptation by New Order

2:40 - 3:20 in talking heads - born under punches; adrian belew's solo. the most idm guitar solo ever commited to tape.

http://idmguitarsolo.ytmnd.com/

lol, i'm AMAZED that's still there. i must have made it five or six years ago.

although adrian's stuff on the live version is amazing too

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVIKF03KkVM

with belew and the funkadelic members in the expanded live lineup talking heads were a fucking powerful live band

tina's looking super hot on this too

all of the sounds contained in this

but especially at about 1:35ish when the delayed stabs start to lock together and then charles hayward lets fuckin rip on the drumkit and then the crazy tape delay effect AND THEN THE CLAPS. and it's all good from there.

incredible music. no surprise autechre dropped this in the webcast.

the melody at the very beginning of Wouldn't It Be Nice? by The Beach Boys

Ack, you know what has killed this very memorable and genius intro for me? And don't follow my post and watch it if you haven't seen it. In Michael Moore's first movie "Roger & Me" where he chronicles the decline of Detroit after the car companies split, there is a scene where he's filming out the window as he drives down the most blighted, boarded up, crackwhore, graffitti'd parts of Detroit as the lovely plucked, reverb harp (?) plays. And then WOULDN'T IT BE NIIIIIIICE! and you just feel sick...or, at least I did.

ew, i'll be steering clear of that film. thanks for the heads up.

ALSO, when the bass comes in the song Sickfit by Madvillain! it's like a hand sliding down your pants

*dejected teenagers dance, confused*

*ferry leers like a gay venusian cabaret artist*

*an oboe is abused*

*teens, less dejected but more confused than before*

*eno's gloved hand descends to give another burst of alien sound*

*no longer confused, but still rather glum teenagers continue to sort of shuffle*

*ferry amps up the sleazy leering a notch*

still.... we are flying down to RIIIOOOOOOOO!

i love this clip, despite the glum teens.

adrian has this unique sound! people call it the late talking heads sound or the late crimson sound, but it's rly the interplay between adrian and other ppl.

although no adrian on this, and about 4:00 til the end is amazing, specially when the fingercymbals kick in :emotawesomepm9:

K pos!

Fav instance of this era, keeping it on topic, I dearly love the squelching distorted mellotron on the KC CB Live in Central Park 7-1-74.

I've thought of another great sound, the ultra wheeze ARP 26K intro on Black Market.

i always thought fripp/byrne on 'under heavy manners' predated crimson mk. 3... you could see it in there... ism.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCADnoAHli8

as well as having some beautiful 'my life in the bush of ghosts' flavours too

hella underrated track imo
