ABSOLUTELY BLINDING. They are SERIOUSLY back on form.

in all seriousness, have you heard the Quarastice set? There's much more variation in the Untilted/Quarastice live sets than this one they are touring with. It was good, but I don't think it was better than the two previous sets from these two eras.

have you ever been to the CONFIELD tours? It was 45 fucking minutes of tweaking the same beat. That's it.

Spoiled kids these days...

Then ae came on. This was the first time I've seen them live and overall I think it was a decent set. Although expectations are kind of irrelevant to anything now, I was really hoping to hear some melodic patterns within the set (much like the middle-to-end section of the Quarastice live set). I did not count one continuous melody at all - there were many subtle patterns going on underneath the beats but you couldn't really make them out into structured melodies like the ones found on Oversteps. So this live set that they are playing at the moment is very beat-driven, so don't expect any catchy melodic stuff to occur :wtf:

potentially awesome possibility here! if we get a soundboard of this, it may be possible to do some purely beats (oversteps live show) VS purely melodic (oversteps lp) mashups. :whistling:

Is it danceable?

The one recording I heard from here (thanks for posting it!) sounded really fast.

outofhand - can you explain further what you meant by your comment about it not being 'step-based'? Do you mean the rhythms are drunk and sloppy like they have tended to be on these recent albums?

I wouldn't say it was danceable - there were people attempting to dance near the front on occasions, but it just looked silly from where I was standing. It was too fast to move in time with the music but plenty of people were just trying to nod their heads to the beats.

The beats sounded structured, but arranged in more complex patterns compared to Untilted/Quaristice sets.. this set is not as accessible than others they have toured with in the past.

I don't mean to come across as negative with my descriptions because to be honest I did enjoy myself and was glad I made (quite a lengthy trip) to get to Brighton. However I'm all for those catchy melodies they occasionally incorporate into their sets - like the melodies in the Los Angeles Quaristice set found at 08.02, 10.08, 35.16, 36.23, 42.57, 45.40 -- all of them compliment the beats really well and was a little surprised to not hear any catchy ae melodies on top of the percussion.

I thought this show was fucking incredible. Me and Ella were totally front center, literally about 4 feet away from B&B, which was totally fucking unbelievable and surreal for me. I was beyond drunk by the time they came on and I was dancing like a maniac. My neck hurts like a cunt today from all the head banging I did. I would say in terms of the set quality, it was a tad repetitive but I love their beats so god damn much!!!! They just KNOW how to make THE BEAT that I need. I need their beats. I need them I need them I need them. Also I gots myself an Oversteps shirt which is totally incredible. At the end of the set I screamed "SEAN BOOTH!!!!" at Rob because I was drunk and made a slip up. I realized instantly that I had made a mistake but he didn't even look up so it doesn't really matter. Still, being less than 5 feet from my two fucking idols for their entire set was totally invigorating. I was so supercharged with energy that on the walk back to Ella's house I screamed "OVERSTEPS!!!!!" at the top of my lungs probably about 15 times or so throughout the course of the walk. I also tried to give her a piggy-back but dropped her on the ground and now she has a bruise. Also I dropped her oversteps shirt on the ground too and she just finished washing it, but we were worried that it would be stained for good.

Anyways, brilliant set, if anyone on here is trying to decide whether or not to see them, fuckin SEE THEM! :emotawesomepm9: :emotawesomepm9: :emotawesomepm9::cisfor:

To be fair... You were going to like the set even if it was terrible.

To be fair... Nothing Autechre could ever make could be terrible.

You've not heard the Killing Game remix then!

autechre said at one point something to the effect of that their remix was wank because they hated the original.

My brother failed miserably to try and get a recording of the set on his i-phone, the results were pretty pathetic. I was about 1 metre away from the soundboard guy. He looked very grumpy so I did not bother talking to him lol and it looked like he didn't know what he was doing with the music programs he was attempting to use on his laptop as he kept on going to and from the help topics on audacity and some other music-monitoring program that he was utilising. I could tell that when ae came on, he simply opened up audacity and recorded the whole ae live set with it.

so it seems like they got the same 'soundboard guarding dude' setup for this tour as they did on the quaristice tour.

but what's interesting is that they seem to be recording the soundboards on a laptop.

laptops tend to have wifi. the venue they are playing in might as well.

so if some uber-hacker dude with a laptop was outside the venue during the show, say sitting in a car on the street or something... and he just happened to somehow get access to that soundboard dudes laptop via wifi... see where i'm going with this? :shuriken:
