This guy looks like the buttbaby of Richard Devine and Daniel Jackson from Stargate SG1 (not James Spader), but instead of that next level awesomeness he's just a shitty reviewer.

Personally, I wouldn't mind a crushingly critical deconstruction of their (or any other) music if it was well argued with more wit and intelligence than I could hope to possess.

no, this review was composed of a guy who is desperately trying to reconcile this new album with his existing worldview that he 'likes autechre' - a fact i'm not entirely convinced of. sick of this boosheeee

Eh. Well whatever works for you. I don't agree with everything he says either, particularly the comparison of Oversteps to Amber, but I also don't assume that everyone will have the same response to their (or anyone's) music. One thing that seems flawed in every review of Autechre I've read is the reviewer's determination to establish them as an 'out-there' duo, and 'hard to get into', focusing more on that than on the music itself. It was refreshing that this video was actually about the album.

And Autechre don't really care how you pronounce their name.

Well, linguistically, accent and (especially before the invention of the printing press) spelling are elements that do vary from place to place. If one person is inclined to tolerate your non-standard spellings (of "pronunciations" and "shit"), then it's only fair that you do the same for their accent. However, this particular individual might not be prepared to tolerate your spellings, in which case, go all out with hatred for him. We get what we give.
