Aphex Twin Aphex did release a complete CD full of new tracks in december

Its kind of funny that aphex did release a full cd of new tracks in December even under his afx alias and somehow people do not very much consider these as value release as if he only was having a real release when he is using his aphex twin moniker and the rest does not count much

I would be kind of pissed if I was releasing a cd and people would say "this is not a real LP give us a real LP"

I assume you mean the extra Analord tracks? For him to be pissed he'd have to read WATMM in the first place, and then if he did, give a fuck about the opinion of a handful of online Aphex stalkers.

i see ur point, but a collection of old analords not good enough (as good as some of them are) to make the original 1-11 cut is quite different from an album full of new original aphex.

For me, it was a real nice christmas gift. nothing more, nothing less.

Having to fork out close to $50 to re-buy tracks you likely already had, with the addition of a few b-sides and noodlings, even with a couple bangers mixed in is NOT a new LP.

Yeah if he'd released the leftover songs as a bundle as something like 'Other lords' I'd happily have bought it. As it is, I haven't bothered to buy any of them.

so its not so much the quality of the tracks but the way they where released what devalues them?

people here often wish for a SAW III and similar but its not coming out as it would be nothing special too?

so if boc releases some old tunes will the same happen and people will see this as a release not much to bother?

don't get me wrong I see the new analords as a new release on its own thats why I bought it but it am still interested in different opinions

a lot of the new analords were just slightly different versions of the old. i was happy to get them, but it's not a proper album.

there's that "druqks is for making your own mixes" comment. analords are like that too... maybe he is done with albums, just puts out loads of single tracks because people just play mp3s now, not albums

really, i'd just like to know what's up. if he said "i will release a new album in 5 years" i think most people would stop complaining. part of the annoyance is the constant speculation that a new album is coming, fakes, etc. i am exhausted with all that to the point where i am starting to not give a shit any more. if there will be an album, give me a rough release date. if there won't be, just say it!

^He said years ago that he planned to stop releasing albums when he had enough money. Maybe he meant it.

I appreciate the Extra-Analord.

But the real question here should be , if he drops dead today , will his discography "make him justice": I think not , as much as i (really , really)love most of his releases , his best is yet to come (The Tuss showed us that) , hopefully the "artist in him" will see that and release more stuff.

yeah it was confirmed by warp. a 3 album deal. correct me if i am wrong.

When I asked the guy at the Bleep merch table at Warp20 NYC, he told me there is definitely a 3 album deal, and they are for the name Aphxex Twin. He also said that part of the deal is that they have no control over when he gives them the album, and what is on the records. He reckoned that since Aphex had played a lot of festivals recently he wouldn't be needing the money anytime soon hahaha.
