having your records exposed like that on your bed is a surefire way of attracting pubes to the vinyl

how come these 2cds dont seem to have any of the classic ninja tracks that i love, like old DJ Food, etc.? Is that being rereleased somewhere else?

currently jamming DJ Food - Refried Food. Remix collections don't get any better than this one.

nice self-quote :sorcerer:

hells yeah, great remix comp, the autechre remix makes an appearance on my latest mix set, as does the mr. scruff classic "ug".

Ninja tune did a lot of some great stuff back in the day and it's unfortunate that a lot of it got lumped under the dirty word "triphop"

My box set is currently sitting on a shelf looking down at me with all its overwhelming contents. I was the same with the Warp20 box set, it took me about a month before I even began to start going through the whole thing!

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I have been in a triphop mood lately. Refried Food, ColdKrushCuts mixes, and Digable Planets- Blowout Comb. it's classic. far better than most "real hiphop"

I thought it all got lumped as "Nu Jazz"

yeah, that's pretty silly. just because you sample jazz music does not make it jazz.

My review:

Even though it's kind of cheating by spanning 6 CDs and drawing on 20 years of history, this is the album of the year by a very comfortable margin. After hearing this, you'll be revising your top 20 tracks of 2010 and don't be surprised if half of the new list ends up being taken from this set.

What's remarkable about the set is that the post dubstep sound of Joker and Starkey makes its presence felt pretty much throughout. Everyone is having a go at that sound, even 808 State, The Orb and Diplo.

What that adds up to is, instead of being an historical document of the last 20 years, it draws on the last 20 years to create a definitive snapshot of what music sounds like RIGHT NOW. It's hard to overemphasise just how now this record sounds.

In 2030, when people ask you what electronic music was like in 2010, you'll just have to point them at this box set and you'll be done.

Completely agree with you. Due to the fact 90% of this was made in 2010 it has to go down as the best release of the year. I got the Boxset and with over 8 hours of music I've only just started to get to grips with all the content available. It really is stunning stuff and a bargain at £100. Just wish they had the King Geedorah track on the CD, I play it every day but have to hunt down the little 45 single beforehand.

10/10.

i find it scary that i didn't instantly recognized Dark Lady (remix) to have been done by 808 State, but i kind of like what they have done.

not enough tho.

it's 808 state i am talking about here.

that 808 state mix is quality. doesnt really sound like anything else that's going on right now, doesn't really sound like 808 state. love it.

plus it samples this for bonus win
