Would aphex twin be able to push a come to daddy or windowlicker into the charts again?

A Come to Daddy type thing wouldn't make it into the charts as the humor in it was less obvious, a new Windowlicker would only need to be taking the piss out of something that's currently as hot as mainstream-hiphop was back then. Like Joyrex said, right now it's all electronic (and I'm not exactly loving it that way).

Problem is, ever since about 2002, originality in music videos and style seems to have been abandoned, so there's no real theme that can be spoofed so it would hit the mainstream world (at least I couldn't think of one), except for single figures like lady gaga and that shit, but with the internet, there's already tons of parodies around. Windowlicker was a clever move, but a parody of lady gaga video would be kind of lame. As xxx knows since he's seen our HüllenKnüller-film, people seem to be having trouble naming a real essence of the last decade. As one friend of mine put it, "We had 20's being in, 30's being in, 60's being in - but what actually was 2000's -style, that's a good question really"

maybe if he gets Kanye West to remix it.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

I think he would appeal as much to her fans as her music does to aphex twin fans.

Maybe in Europe, people in the US don't even know who Aphex Twin is.

Plus when it comes to electronic music, if it's not trance clubbing music

or something with a catchy chorus feat lil wayne, it wont make it in charts.

Usually Top 40, MTV, Radio music is a bunch of retarded rubish anyways.

I rather have Aphex Twin too be known by IDM fanboys, rather than those

people who only download one song by a artist because it was on the "Top 40 List"

and put it on their iPod, you know, those people your looking through their iPod,

and you see "Dr. Dre", and you see the album "Chronic 2001", and your expecting they have the whole album,

then when you click on it, all they have is "The Next Episode", and your like "WTF?, WHY WOULD YOU ONLY HAVE ONE SONG?", and their like "Because that's the song that was popular", and your like " "

Way to generalize.

I like all of the Lady Gaga songs I've heard. She appeals to me, and so does Aphex Twin.

I wouldn't mind Aphex Twin feat. Lady Gaga, if he managed to fucked up her shit.

Man, that would be the coolest/quirkiest celeb couple since Arthur Miller and Marilyn Monroe.

I think modey and marf have it right: songs with proper lyrics are always more popular than instrumental music. Most people need that meaning to latch onto in addition to the emotion and sound exploration of music.

Given a vocal for the lead, I suspect PWSteal.Ldpinch.D could possibly have charted, or at any rate definitely have been much more popular than it was. It's already very accessible due to its four-to-the-floor beat.

Conversely, if you took, say, Girls Aloud's The Show, removed the vocal, and chopped up the percussion, it would probably have appealed to the IDM crowd.

I could actually totally hear that, with the stereotypical house "bird up top giving it loads"

Speaking of which, if only he'd done the production on the new Kelis album instead of David Guetta and Boys bloody Noize...

(Ah, but don't get me started on crazy pop production.)
